What determined the show they did?

Was it just their particular announce style that worked on a specific show?
Enjoy lots and lots of backstage TPIR photos and other fun stuff here. And yes, I did park in Syd Vinnedge's parking spot at CBS

Back in the 80's, you had packagers taping shows nearly every day and the available announcing talent could be spread quite thin. So I think a lot of it was \"who is available\", particularly after Johnny O died. There is no question that Johnny O was the \"go-to\" guy in the 70's and early 80's, but he couldn't be everywhere at once. Gene Wood took up a lot of the slack.
