Which makes me wonder if they're now going to have Meredith talk about the next DI-mension, complete with the 360-degree camera shot and the dramatic music (even if they're not using the "Super Millionaire" lifelines).  A little difficult to do if you're not increasing the money.

I doubt that.

Did you notice in the rules that it says the 30 minute length of the show is subject to change?  Could we see the new show following the path of the original and going to an hour long?

Next thing you know, they'll be airing 5 celebrity shows a week.

Probably over Davies' dead body.  All involved have emphasized more than once that they learned their lesson with the network version.

But, of course, if there is someone clueless now in charge at Buena Vista...
Does anyone have more details on the Switch the Question lifeline?  The Variety article requires a subscription, and no other online news source has covered this yet.
It's also in the rules packet that's being sent out to the contestants. Available after reaching the second milestone, it allows a contestant to substitute a new question when they so choose.
For some reason, any time I tune into this version of Millionaire, a contestant is always stopping at $16,000.  Something tells me that we'll be seeing even more of that this coming season.
I concur.  Risking $15K to gain $9K does not compute.  (There are also a couple steps on the Super Millionaire [Dean Scungio]money sequoia[/DS] where you risk more than you gain.)  This change just screams "budget cut".  To me it says, "Get the water skis, Meredith; a shark's coming!"

But in a way, you're not risking 15K just for 9K...you're also getting that free shot at 50K.... that's a free shot that isn't offered at any other level (other 1K to 2K)...

This money tweak,  does cut down on money, but it does promote the greater potential reward for success at the 9th question.....It's something that i didn't care for on the original money tree....
These changes feel to me not like they're trying to save money, but rather give more money away.  They want more players to get to the $250,000 question and beyond.
But, to do that, should they be *dis*couraging people from stopping at $16,000? If there's a small jump in there somewhere, it should be on a free guess---$32,000 to $50,000 seems more logical to me.
there will be no more Hal March jackpot.
At $50000, it will then be a Rose Evans Jackpot.

Let's see.  Going from $16K to $25K sounds akward to me thus making that portion from $16K to $100K seem out of whack.  Cost-cutting yes, but there's always a downside to everything.  I think maybe they should've left the 2nd safe haven alone & just go with $50K & $100K in the 3rd tier.

As far as the Ask the Audience thing goes, it would be intresting to see what kind of numbers are generated from the AOL/AIM pool.  I sometimes don't trust the Internet when it comes to reliable information.  This will test my trust that's for sure.

The new Question Switch lifeline is an intresting one, but it sounds like it might not yeild "better" questions than the original one.  That doesn't mean it's any harder or easier question at that particular dollar ammount in Tier 3.

Will this lifeline require that a player must answer the question they "switched", and cannot walk away after seeing it?

No single lifeline is a guarantee, but I can promise you this:  A question you haven't seen is preferable and therefore "better" than one you have seen and have no clue about.
