"Enemy Within" comes to BBC America

The show that inspired "Dirty Rotten Cheater" will begin airing weekdays at 10 AM starting 9/27.

ukgameshows.com is down right now, but as they note, WebArchive has a copy of their writeup of the show for your perusal.

Here's BBCA's page for the show.  It also seems that two episodes will air Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. ET starting next Sunday.

And host Nigel Lythgoe's one of the EPs of the "Idol" franchise, both in the UK and the U.S.  (Did ThamesTalkback produce "Enemy Within?"  It's not mentioned on either their web site or parent Fremantle's web site, but that doesn't mean anything.)

I went to the BBC America's website to learn more about the show and turned up the fact that they will also start airing episodes of the U.K. version of Dog Eat Dog starting October 3 (at 11 A.M. ET) and starting with Episode #1 of that show's first season.

You won't see Brooke Burns on this edition of the show -- the hostess is a woman named Ulrika Jonsson, and the cash prize the contestants will play for is £10,000 in U.K. currency.  But it should be a dandy for those who may be tired of the GSN reruns of the U.S. version.

(And if BBC America isn't on your cable system, call 1-800-333-3474 to get it -- as I did!)

Man, BBC America is really starting to air game shows.  Well, after they alienate their brit-com fans by taking off all the really good ones, at least they can start airing some decent stuff besides home renovation crap.

I think it was Zenith Productions who worked on The Enemy Within, the same people who brought Pass The Buck also to BBC One years earlier in that same timeslot.

Oh man, both The Enemy Within and Dog Eat Dog certainly fall within the upper quartile of quality UK gameshows, although probably nearer the bottom end.

First series of DED is OK, but it doesn't really hit it's stride until it's second and third series, which are really splendid. Series four tends to put too much emphasis on contestant bitching and the games seem to be laughably easy.

The Enemy Within is a lot of fun, and Lythgoe is a very good host of it.
