So, does this mean that Sajak will be headed among the ranks of Old Man Periwinkle soon?

In the case of J!, it was not on the air for 8.5 of those years(September 1975 when weekly syndie version ended-October 1978 when NBC revival began, March 1979 when NBC revival ended-September 1984)

The finale of the 2009-10 J! season will air on or within a few days of Trebek's 70th birthday.

Yeah, Dave, he's right.  I'd call J! in Season 38.  But I digress a bit....

Sajak has said in the past that he intends to retire at 60 (after the 2006-2007 season).  Whether he will actually be there or not is another story.

I'd certainly keep Bob Goen's phone number handy in case the development at Paramount doesn't materialize.
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.
