Some of you are aware of the website Radio-info.com which has many message boards about broadcasting of various types. They have started a "Classic TV" board which has a number of "Retro" Schedules of stations in a Market on a given day or time period.
I thought I would carry this idea over to The Forums here to see if there might be any interest..Take a particular day and point out the Game Shows from that day with celebrity panels, if available.

I can tell you I was in Florida that day. We went seemingly everywhere that week in July 1975 - Disney World (it rained), Kennedy Space Center (the day the Apollo-Soyuz rendezvous ship returned to Earth after docking with its Soviet counterpart), Marineland, etc. - and I was based in Jacksonville that week. Obviously, game shows were out of my mind at that time.

The TPIR was the Dennis James version. I have a TVG from Western Ontario which I purchased in Sarnia, Ontario from April 75 which has a similar treasure trove, with listings for Cleveland, Toledo and Detroit plus the Canadian markets with listings for CTV and Global plus Channel 11 from Hamilton, ON, which was an indie with lots of game shows.

Thanks for the Clarification on the Dennis James TPIR...For those who might notice such things, the actual date of these listings is Wednesday, July 23, 1975..When I started this I put the incorrect date in the thread title..and I Can't edit that as far as I know..

At an antique store I came accross some old issues of the local the television magazine came with the Sunday paper.

As usual, game shows rulled from 9AM to 3pm, both network and syndicated.

In the half hour before primetime, the NBC affilate ran a local show callled 'Newsbeat.' The CBS station ran the daily 'To Tell the Truth.' The ABC station had a 'wheel' of shows every week that consited of the various weekly syndicated shows that included 'TPIR', "Hollywood Squares,' 'LMAD' and more.

On Saturday evenings before prime time both 'Match Game PM' and the 'The 25,000 Pyramid' came on.

As an aside after the late news one of the independent stations ran 'The Honeymooners' and probably did okay. The rest of the stations otherwise surrended to 'The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson' and just ran movies.

That same station probably did well for itself on Saturday evenings when it ran two conscutive reruns of 'Star Trek'.

I was just five at the time. From that time I have memories of 'TPIR' and 'Match Game' and dim recollections of Monty Hall, the Hollywood Sqaure board and the Wheel of Fortune.

I think the best time was early June of 75, you had TJW, NYSI, TBS, SS, MM and Password plus Blank Check and Blankety Blanks which, IMO was a better slate than the one in late July.

One thing I enjoy about my back collection of TVGuides are all the old game show listings (sometimes I wish there was such a thing as a time machine - I'd go back and tape them all!) It's interesting that in the East, 9:30 a.m. was quite a popular slot for network games (the actual network schedules didn't start until 10).

Most of the time a show which aired at 12 noon, or 4 p.m. would turn up there on a one-day tape delay. Maybe the particular station didn't take the show live, but at least they aired it!

WCAU in Philadelphia typically did this....9:30 a.m. was home to "Tattletales", "Body Language", and "Press Your Luck".......WHP in Harrisburg, however, slotted PYL at 4:30 in the afternoon once Eubanks CS premiered.....

KDKA in Pittsburgh aired 80's Tattletales and Body Language at 9:30AM EST but replaced the 9-10AM shows with Hart to Hart once Eubanks CS premiered, thus no longer airing PYL when the time slot changed. Pittsburghers who got WTRF in Wheeling could see PYL in 1986 at 5PM EST.

During the 1970s, when I lived in that area, the ABC affiliate in Washington would show the previous weekday's 4pm CBS show at 9:30am. Because of this, I was able to enjoy Adam Wade's hosting debut.

From some of my TV Guides, Don is definitely right - 7 (Washington's ABC) also aired "Gambit" and "Tattletales" as well....

Along those same lines, I have 9 (Washington's CBS) not showing TPiR on their schedule as late as at least 1980....

I've been thinking nearly the same thing. My plan: Travel back to 1973. Once I've convinced my parents that I'm their son from the future, I can probably persuade them to let me tape The $xx,000 Pyramid from now until 1980. From their perspective, I'm bringing a new tape in every other week. From my perspective, I'm covering several months per Saturday. Tivo isn't feasible, but converting them to DVD afterward certainly is. And the first time I do it, I'll have the answer to the great question: When Rob Reiner gave away the first $10,000, was it the very first trip to the Winner's Circle or not?

When I asked whether there was a better time, I was referring to summer 1975 as a whole.
