This is all interesting to see the patterns of the market in which I grew up (Philly) and Baltimore, where I currently live.  Not to be overly Horan, but you list both KYW and WPVI as being NBC in Philadelphia. I believe WPVI was and is ABC.

Man, those listings cover a lot of ground. The Central PA edition I grew up with listed NY and Philly, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Lancaster, and the two stations in the Lehigh Valley of PA.

First off, thanks to those who pointed out my mistakes (WPVI-6 being one of them, and I caught WGAL being wrong as I looked at it, too) - I've fixed them.

I have a lot of those, too - Central PA editions. My next retro will be from Friday, July 9, 1976 and it will be from that edition.

In collecting TV Guides I've found that the Central PA actually used to encompass all of the SE PA area, and somewhere between 1970 and 1973, Central PA was split off to form SE PA. I'd love to know when.

I've also got plans to include some '80s listings in there, too. That seems fairly recent for me, but some of our younger posters may get a kick out of it.

One item of note is that exactly 3 wks after this show aired, 5/28/79, I was born.  :-) Managed to find P+ and $20K celeb listings for that wk via series ep guides, but nothing else.

Gosh, I had no idea Bowling For Dollars was still on in 1979.  The last I saw of it was late 1975 or early 1976 in Batavia NY before I moved north a few weeks later.

Odd that Whodunit was on at 10:30PM in Philly(3) that night.  Wonder what caused that show to air there?

NBC aired the movie "Rollercoaster" from 8pm-10:30pm that night.

Though in my opinion, WGTW ch.48 "never was" -- the original ch.48, WKBS, went dark in August 1983, when Field Communications, the owner at the time, was unable to find a buyer for it. So instead of keeping it on the air themselves, they decided to call it a day and close down the station and return the license to the FCC. WGTW, the cut-rate indie that signed on in August 1992 and recently sold to TBN, was never related to the beloved WKBS.

Don't you just love how TVGuide used to do their listings?  It's pretty likely the shows on all three of those stations were all from the same syndicated late '70s run, but they're listed with slightly different titles.  Being a TVGuide collector myself, I always got a kick out of that sort of thing...

Of course, years later they would get worse......I remember said edition of TV Guide listing a baseball game on WLYH-15 and UPN-57 - mind you, they were carrying the same game, but in the sports guide, it looked something like this:

How about this one:  I don't remember the issues but I saw this on several occasions in the early '70s:  when Dennis James "Price is Right" debuted in syndication, you'd frequently get listings such as this:

(x) Price is Right
(x) The New Price is Right

This was one of the few times I actually saw TVGuide use the word "The"
