Revival ideas?
« on: October 26, 2004, 07:33:17 PM »
Anybody got revival ideas for any of these people as host?

John Davidson
Jim Lange (with Jon Bauman, one of the underrated hosts, he created perfect drama with Bullseye even if it was slow as well as being personable, he was also the latter on Name That Tune)
Gordon Elliott (did the game show hosting duties of the 90's with TTTT '90)

Okay, I'll play along -
(god, I need a life...and there's no chance in h*ll these would come back, but I'd match the following with new versions of these shows)
John Davidson - Face The Music or Yours For A Song
Jim Lange - Down You Go or I'll Bet
Gordon Elliott - What's My Line?

John Davidson - Face The Music

Must've had ESP going...I think Davidson would, believe it or not, work well on a high-camp GS like FtM. And hey, Tommy Oliver's got nothing going on, while Lisa Donovan can surely commute between LA and Vegas...someone get on the phone w/Sandy Frank! :-)

There's probably almost a generation that has forgotten John is a singer with a few albums to his credit - seemed to be a chance for him to get back to his early show biz roots and be a Bert Parks-type host, getting a few notes in now 'n then. Thanks for the second on the motion, Chuck.
Lange has rarely been high-energy, so a pleasant, medium-paced game with a bit of host control works best. I'd say Jim on Tune was solid. The show had the excitement.
