You know, since August they have:

* Brought back 'Win Ben Stein's Money' instead of something along the lines of 'Paradise Island'

* Aired kinescopes of 'Winner Take All' and 'Play Your Hunch'

* Brough back other versions of 'Match Game' and 'Card Sharks'

* Will air game show marathons on the hollidays, including 'Family Feud'

* Continue to run tributes, such as for Rodney Dangerfield

* Ran a Halloween-themed line-up, including a Ninties Dawson 'Family Feud'

* Aired the 'Lingo' tournament

Too many people complain about GSN, so it's always nice to see someone that looks at the positive side of things.

While I'm not a big fan of WBSM, it is a game show, and I'm glad GSN's airing it. And while FF94 is my least favorite version, it was still nice of GSN to dust it off.  I do like MG90 and CS78, so I'm glad they're both back on.

You mean I missed a kinescope of Winner Take All? Which episode was it? (That makes me mad. I liked that show, assuming it was a Cullen-episode?)

There were three episodes aired with Cullen and two aired with Barry Gray IIRC.

I'm grateful for the hour of black and white shows. I'm sure it's a pleasant surprise to us all that this feature is still being presented for a fourth year. And instead of recycling I've Got A Secret and Password again, we're getting five-a-week doses of The Name's The Same.
Nice to have Hollywood Showdown back on also. If only they'd make new episodes. Anyone know why no new episodes of that were filmed?

It was due to Cronin stopping all originals(and keeping shows like Hell, Yes I'm a Redneck that were on the docket at the time from being further developed) that were on GSN when he started putting his stamp on the network in Spring 2001. Ideas were toiled around for a third season of Showdown with some format changes, as per Randy West, but the show ultimately didn't get renewed.

We haven't seen any first season Showdown episodes since it's return to the schedule. There is still one week of second season episodes not shown this year. And when's Mall Masters coming back :)

Say what you will about GSN originals, but I always thought "Hollywood Showdown" was decent.  (I liked it better than "Whammy", and that's coming from a "PYL" fan!)  If they ever did a revival of it, I'd be OK with it...

When I saw Todd hosting Hollywood Showdown, I always thought "Hey, he'd be great for a PYL revival if they couldn't get Peter to do it." His style on that show reminded me so much of Tomarken in his prime on PYL, irreverant, a little smart-alecky, but knew when to balance drama and silliness at the same time. Somehow, all of that was lost in the translation.

Speaking of PYL, one of the things some seem to like about GSN these days is the weekend's showings of PYL episodes not seen since the original run(9/85-10/85)

There were, in fact, FOUR Cullen episodes aired over the summer, including one that GSN had never shown before.  I don't know how many Barry Gray episodes there were, because I'm not running the Barry Gray Homepage.
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
Stay tuned for all the obsessive-compulsive fun of Words Have Meanings.

I'd think that most fans of Whammy would actually be pretty unfamiliar to PYL, so they wouldn't have anything to compare the revival to...

I was going to mention that, too! Can I get an Amen from my fellow PYL bretheren? :-D

I don't think anybody here expected this some time ago. If you heard me tell y'all that GSN would air never-before-seen-on-USA episodes three years ago, you'd say I was crazy. =P

.....and we also got a lost episode, too! Ain't life grand? (at least for an hour a weekend)

Amen!

And I'll jump onto the bandwagon of goodwill to GSN.  I'm happy that any network is willing to air PYL -- even if it's just on the weekends -- remembering how long it didn't air at all when USA dropped it.

Well, I enjoyed Barry Gray when he did radio.

"YOUR INFLUENCE COUNTS..... USE IT!"

And let's all be thankful... getting back to our topic... that GSN has extended its contract with Fremantle for the Goodson-Todman classic shows (per the Professor).
