Surprised I didn't hear about this earlier....

GSN quietly taped the 2nd season of WSoB at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas last month for airing in January. It's a 13 episode order, with an increased prize pool ($500,000 in total, $250,000 to the winner).

Here's the press release link:

(note, the press release is wrong-they changed the start date to 1/21, with new episodes premiering on Fridays at 10PM EST)

Notice it looks like they got rid of Melana from last season....

Here's a more descriptive schedule (from the site of one of the contestants):

Hasn't exactly been a secret, though GSN has yet to do much publicity for the show. But I didn't see promos for the poker show until pretty recently, either. The show is not getting a particularly good time slot or a lot of repeats, so the network doesn't look all that sold on it...compared to Celeb Blackjack, at any rate.

Here's an interesting story on the show, which expands into why casinos generally aren't thrilled with blackjack tournaments. Sounds like Hollywood Dave will be his usual motormouth self. Many of the players mentioned in the story were in the first civvie series.
I was hoping there'd be a WSoB 2.  As much as I like Celebrity Blackjack, there are times when blackjack is best left to the experts.  CB was just jeered on next week's TV Guide for allowing the dealer to advise the players.
Doesn't surprise me, considering the returning players for S2 of CB.
Great.  I'm going to make DVDs of this season and send them to Chris Lemon. :-)  j/k  Maybe for the '06 Series they should let Hollywood Dave deal.  We all know he's much more tolerable behind the table.
