Alex Trebek's wrist

Apologies if this belongs in the spoilers section, but I'm not spoiling any gameplay.

I noticed that when Alex came out on stage on the 12/27 episode of Jepoardy!, he was wearing some sort of wrist brace on his right wrist.  I'm curious to know why.  I know he got in an accident when he fell asleep at the wheel of his truck, but I thought that was a good deal befor when these episodes would have been taped.  Also, I don't remember the brace being on any of last week's episodes.

Am I having one of those "Woolery left Wheel" moments?  :-)
