Was Johnny ever the Mystery Guest on "What's My Line?" or just a panelist once in a while? (Yes, I do have one or two shows with him on the panel).

R.I.P. Johnny :(((

If so, we'll no doubt see them late late late one night soon on The Network For Games!! Even if he wasn't on WML?, there is a wealth of episodes of TTTT on which he appeared.

WML: 4/30/61, 7/30/61, 12/10/61, 1/14/62.

Mystery Guest 2/11/62 (facing Arlene, Martin Gabel, Dorothy and Tony Randall), at which time John Daly announced that Johnny was going to take over "The Tonight Show" in the fall.

Was on the panel of IGAS maybe a dozen times, the guest secret three or four, and was more or less a semi-regular on TTTT 1960-1962. And of course, "Password", 1/23/62.

An awful lot of shows for GSN to choose from, all of them great early samples of Johnny's greatness.

His first appearance on the WML? panel was way back on 4/8/1956, plus I also have him appearing on 5/28/61.  WML? liked to put a funnyman in the rotating chair, since the extent of Cerf's wit were those horrible puns.

Many collectors have one episode each of Who Do You Trust? and Do You Trust Your Wife?, as well as his walk-on appearance in the 1985 Hollywood Squares pilot.

According to my reference book, he was also on Pantomime Quiz in 1958 (how cool would THAT be to see?) and on Snap Judgment in 1968.  The latter, referenced in the EOTVGS, was as a favor to Ed McMahon.
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
Stay tuned for all the obsessive-compulsive fun of Words Have Meanings.

And after a week of joking about the lousy pay, on the Friday episode Ed "paid" Johnny on camera with sacks of NICKELS. Studio 8H.

Did Johnny "Earn His Vacation" with all those nickels, or not quite?

That's when he went to Wink Martindale's house to play Burn Your Candle.

Since Ed's side activities were always good for a little joshing, whenever Ed got a game show gig you'd invariably hear Johnny say at the desk to plug the show "what's that new game show you're on, 'Crush Your Lantern?'  'Burn Your Candle?'"
