When they asked the educated guess question, was there any reason they often superimposed the number rather than using  the normal display?

Did the 10 audience particpants change clothes or keep the same clothes for all 5 shows? (couldn't remember from watching yesterdays ep)

To answer your first question, because the results can be higher than 99 since the questions weren't restricted to a 100-person survey.

To answer your second, I believe they did change clothes for each day taped, but don't quote me on that.

 Yes, but there were some EG questions that either made it obvious or definitively stated in the question that the answer would fall between 1 and 100, particularly when they asked for a percentage as an answer. Certainly they could have still used the game electronics for those, and they didn't.

 Because the answers could have more than two digits in them. However, in some early episodes with Educated Guess questions when the answer was from 0-99(most notably in the Rafferty version), they used the normal display.

They asked a question on Sunday's ep where it was between 0-99 and they still superimposed the number.

To answer your first question, because the results can be higher than 99 since the questions weren't restricted to a 100-person survey.

Although originally, the answers only fell between 1-100, then they tried having the players write down their predictions, and then just went to the practice of showing a graphic over the display.

I dare say that posting about the way in which the Educated Guess was handled and had evolved is pretty relevant, regardless of the esteem you hold for the person who posted it.  Certainly there have been less relevant postings in this thread, like the one above.  Frankly, I didn't remember that there was a time that the answers were written down.

It seems the heart of the question that everyone seems to be dancing around is this: On the Educated Guess questions, if someone gave a one- or two-digit answer, why didn't they just put it on the physical display?

Preparing for the possibility of either using the physical display (for answers < 100) or using the Chyron (for answers > 100) would mean having two operators at the ready, which would be redundant.  It would also look sloppy on the rare occasion that one of the operators messed up and both of them went to displaying the number - we'd have Chyron on top of a physical display.  Blech.

I think that at the point where Chuck mentioned that they switched from writing the numbers down to simply using Chyron, the decision was made, for consistency's sake, that all Educated Guess responses would be displayed on Chyron, leaving the physical display operator to simply indicate the opponent's \"Higher\" or \"Lower\" choice.
