Apparently, this DOES answer that age-old question about how hot potato was played :)

That's one I've never seen before, but didn't HP have the most outlandish publicity photos of any game show?  The one where he is surrounded by potatoes was probably the oddest pub photo ever.
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

What a photo! It brings back memories. Our local NBC affiliate was not going to air the show, and for whatever reason, an arrangement was made with a new (then) independent GR station, ch. 17, to run the show on tape delay. They made a low-budget promo that consisted of the sound of a microwave oven bell dinging, then a hand pulls out a plate with an opened potato on it, the steam rising from it.
The announcer goes.."Coming to channel 17....HOT..POTATO! MMMMMM!" Glad they didn't have any more money or technical savvy. They'd probably have an image of Bill standing in the potato. But at least we got to see it.

That was going to be a cover shot for Bill's second record album - a series of song parodies to be titled "My Son, The Potato", but Allan Sherman's lawyers were crying "foul"....

for the seven who remember, thanks. To the rest..sorry.....

If nothing else, it proves why Bill was such a great host.

Obviously, he had a peel.

If I were you, I'd take back those potatoes Ore-Ida end up in trouble.

That was bad, even for me.  Dare I say it, that was (au) gratin.

Actually, I do have that album.

Getting back to the topic at hand, the aforementioned potato photo was almost rejected as the official publicity photo.

They put it to a vote.....and of course, the EYES outweighed the nays.

I pose this question rhetorically: Just how desperate did a celebrity have to be to accept a booking on Haut Putato?
