It looks like that there was a backdrop set up in front of the board. I don't remember the 2-tier risers being that large for the Fame Game board.

I don't know if this seems out-of-line, but is it possible for any of the TPiR staffers to ask Bente Christensen?

EDIT: The more I look at that pilot photo, the more I think it IS a turntable.

What an odd little mystery we're trying to solve!

The problem is that it will probably take a series of photos, or watching several tapes, before we can conclusively say what DIDN'T happen.  Sure, the screen grab off Chri$'s site shows them doing an IB at the Fame Game area.  Still doesn't mean they ALWAYS did them there.  I seem to remember some Instant Bargains that were done on a pretty wide area, and the only area wide enough would be in front of the Big Doors.

Remind me why we care about any of this?

Because I saw that same photo in the EOTVGS and then wondered how on earth did they do the Instant Bargains due to the lack of staging they had at the big doors and why the Fame Game Board is staged with circular steps (turntable traits?)  Also after looking at Chris Lambert's photo, I think the theory might be correct.  BTW, if that is a turntable, it's built kinda like the one used on Card Sharks '86, where the Money Cards Board was really on the edge of the circle rather than split in the middle like the turntable used on TPIR, with that extra space for the contestant's podium.

Because discussing this is better than answering questions about :

Stone/Stanley games
Pat O' Brien
Wheel 2000 being NEW! NEW! NEW!
Bob Barker actually being spayed and neutered
Did Ken Jennings do a line of blow before every episode of Jeopardy!
Requests for EVERY SINGLE music bed from the Price is Right
Lessons on how to use the Killfile
What school did IrisMason go to that apparently feels that Grammar is, in fact, the tool of the devil.
Did Jim Peck actually fall or was he pushed
Any useless thing that Zach feels he must answer for us

And then some....
