That doesn't mean you had to tell him.

Of course I didn't, but in all fairness, the guy asked.

You know what, Rainman? Why don't you email him privately instead of trying to share with the rest of the class the notion that you think you're the smartest game show trivia guy in the school, okay? Because, the rest of us think quite differently about you.

Careful...he might think you're trying to emulate him.

If Pat leaves the show, it fizzles and dies unless and ONLY unless Chuck Woolery returns to the helm. (And even then I dunno how much longer I give it.)

[quote name=\'whewfan\' date=\'Feb 2 2005, 06:51 AM\']I think Eubanks would feel a little restricted on Wheel. On Newlywed and Card Sharks, he had time to joke with the contestants, and play devil's advocate. Wheel has too much game content for Eubanks' style.

The sad bottom line is that with the exception of TNG, which didn't really have a whole hell of a lot of game to it and could really be hosted by a monkey provided that the monkey learned all of the gameplay rattles, Eubanks just isn't all that good of a host. He schmoozed well enough on Card Sharks, but in terms of actually running the game itself, Perry blew his ass out of the water.

I liken Eubanks to John Davidson (and unfortunately, it's not a complement) when I say that both had perfectly adequate people skills and made their contestants feel comfortable playing the game, but they can't conduct a game of any depth at all smoothly.

I think he got that "info", accurate or not, from the WOF E! True HOllywood Story, which mentioned Pat's and Vanna's estimated annual salaries.

Do you really believe that, or is my sarcasmo 2000 Detection system need battery recharging?

As much as I think Pat and Vanna are perfect for Wheel, I really believe that if they left tomorrow, Harry would replace them both with 30-something folks who may or may not have a lot of national TV experience, but have enough personality and ability to keep a half hour puzzle show flowing, with the ratings still being quite good for early evening.

Rolf was wrong. Period. Bob Goen, while quite capable as a game show host in keeping a show going, didn't have much in the personality dept, that wry sense of humour to bring out , WHEN it's warranted...

There are people who can fill this job well. And I really think, based on my few conversations with Harry, that he'll find them when it's time.

I'd like to see a Pat O'Brien or some other average guy take the helm.  Bob Goen is just too good-looking.
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

I was going to say that earlier, but I figured if I waited around long enough someone would do it for me...

As for a replacement for Pat... Todd Newton perhaps?

That's a good idea!  Todd Newton, would be perfect for Wheel, and you know what else, I think our own Randy West, would be a good replacement for Charlie O'

I wonder if Sony would even hire a replacement for Vanna once she left.  The current puzzle board basically makes her job obsolete.  Sony probably just keeps her around due to her association with the show.  The only real reason I can see for bringing in another "letter turner/toucher" after Vanna is to keep some "eye-candy" around.

[quote name=\'zachhoran\' date=\'Feb 2 2005, 09:13 AM\']When a Who Is It? puzzle recently referred to Dick Clark, Pat mentioned about the CHarlie O and Dick connection(with a get well message to Dick from Pat going into the next commercial break, as the show had been taped before Dick's hospitalization)

Did you hear Zach?  A certain Naturally Stoned game show host did something that this thread refers to Pat possibly doing....
