I have the new TV Guide in front of me. Cast members of 'C.S.I.' are on the cover.

There is an item about the network's 1/29 Johnny Carson marathon. It also mentions how last year the network dug through its vaults to honor President Reagan, Tony Randall, Rodney Dangerfield etc.

Then Rich Cronin is quoted as saying how game shows show a spontaneous side to celebrities. Futhermore he hopes to use the old shows for a series (not a special) that honors living showbiz legends.

Maybe the collective results of 'Kenny vs. Spenny', 'Vegas Weddings' and now 'Dream Derby' made such an idea seem not so bad.

I've always wondered whether a reworking of the old "Breakfast with the Stars" wouldn't be such a bad idea.  Have it on Saturday or Sunday mornings, and focus on one celebrity each week.  People who are fans of a particular celebrity (eg. Lucille Ball) might be interested to see her on Body Language, for example.  And if there are any Betty White fans out there, they might find it interesting to see her doing things other than Match Game.  That would make it a good way to use some of the more obscure material.

Speaking of Lucy's history on Password Plus, did she and her contestant partner ever win a game? All the shows with her that I remember seeing had her team solve the occasional puzzle but I don't ever recall her making the trip to Alphabetics.

My vague recollection is she did, but wasn't very good at it (not unlike the main game).

I seem to recall that Robert Pine was one of the few celebs (and might have been the only one) to get skunked for the whole week (perhaps I'm mistaken).  Of course, being matched up with Joanna Gleason doesn't help your chances (what Markie Post was to $25KP, Gleason and Judy Norton-Taylor were to P+).

The second EOTVGS says she and Kirstie Alley won $5,000 on Alphabetics, but I'm guessing it didn't go down like that. :-)

Right you are.  Kirstie won $700 at Alphabetics.

Given what I'm seeing in another thread, looks like GSN got the message.  Outside of the casino shows and Extreme Dodgeball, no original has really clicked since the changeover.
