Sorry, folks, but I just never trusted The Joker's Wild. I know network standards and practices would have kept a tight rein on the show (ESPECIALLY with you-know-who involved) but it always seemed they could manipulate the way the reels came up. Add the usual Barry-Enright faults (weak questions, a lame beat the bad guy end game) and I usually took a pass.
This isn't a plug, but you can ask me about my book.

If that's your opinion I respect it...however, I think once Barry got back on television, he learned a bit of a lesson and wouldn't risk throwing it away after what happened before.  In the "Come on Down" book, Dan Enright even states something to the effect of "...I'll never lie again, it's not worth it.  I'll simply tell the truth, and bear the consequences".

[quote name=\'Modor\' date=\'Mar 10 2005, 01:45 AM\']I concur--of all the panel shows--this one is my least favorite--Play Your Hunch kept my attention better.

"Play Your Hunch" wasn't really a panel show--it was a straight game show using the basic conceit of "TTTT" as more of a straight guessing game.  Granted, it was more chatty than other games of its type, but it's truly a competition, not a panel against a contestant or team of contestants.

I'm not saying I have any evidence, or that it happened. But in watching the show, it just seemed like the "slot machine" could have been fixed to providing exciting games or help one contestant. And I thought this even before knowing about Barry/Enright and their roles in the quiz scandals. Maybe it was because it was the early 70s. Richard Nixon inspired that sort of paranoia in people.

In retrospect it find it interesting that TJW debuted the same day as a game show where the object was to get to twenty-one.
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

One game I find really boring is the Family Feud, especially when Dawson hosted it. This may be in bias because I grew up watching Ray Combs, but I'm not sure.

I also didn't like the Newlywed Game, which was "popular" for about 10 years.

I really don't like The Dating Game.  I sort of like the show itself, but TV as a whole would've probably been much better off without it.

Damn skippy. Even leaving in IUFB's, if you skip past all commercials, the Showcase Showdowns, and the Showcases themselves (save for the final reveal), you can bang out a show in a half-hour. :)

Have you 'converted' the advance button on your TiVo remote to a 30 second skip? It's a godsend. I really had no use for the button as programmed from the factory. I basically 1X scan through the come on down's, IFUB's and prize descriptions (including the Showcases) and just watch the game being played. I skip the wheel totally (I like to be 'surprised' when I hit the Showcase) as well as any time Rich Fields appears on camera.

Long live TiVo!

I LIKE the main game well enough, especially playing it, but there are those busy days when I need to knock out an episode of Pyramid in 10 minutes, and that's how you do it. :)

You should see me on days when I'm not home to catch TPiR...I watch the entire ep in FF, except for perhaps the showcase price reveals at the end, and the more exciting games like Triple Play, 3X, and Golden Road...can usually knock an entire ep off in about 5 min. :-)
