Funny Moments from your own game shows?
« on: March 27, 2005, 03:37:05 PM »
This is an interesting conversation starter, I think. A lot of us probably play game shows at our homes or offices. I think I heard some games are played at the GSCs too. Any funny moments to share?

Jeopardy:

H20 for $100 (old computer game): "This term refers to a sloshy sleeping experience."
Correct response: What is a waterbed?
One response: What is a wet dream?

Pyramid:

Common thread: "Things associated with romance"
Word: "Necking"

Clue: (points to neck) This is my...
Response: Neck.
Clue: Neck. Stretch it out.
Response: Neck...neck...necrophilia.

TPiR:

We are at the showcase. Player 1 (Mark) bid $18,500, and player 2 (Amy) has just seen her showcase. She wants to bid $16,000, but after some beckoning and harassing from the other people in the room, she gives in and augments her bid to $16,069. ( :P )

We reveal the ARPs. Mark bid $18,500. ARP: $18,520! A difference of $20.

Now the moment everyone was waiting for. Amy bid $16,069. ARP...$16,088. A difference of $19.

The $69 was just enough to put her ahead of Mark to win the game.

Any that you can share?

At last years GSC, we had lots of zany moments including the induction of Benirschke (sp) Bars. They were used in place of Freeze Bars on Card Sharks as well as insurance markers during our playings of High Rollers.

Im also sure a few of the attendees can vivdly remember the names and faces used on  our Fame Game board during Sale of the Century.

Also our playing of Super Password Genius Edition had a couple finer moments, especially once the pot was worth 75K or so, and all of us were dead tired as it was about 2 am.

At a Family Feud game I did last year:

"Name something a wife might share with her husband."

"Underwear."

I'll have to think of some good words to come up with for this year's SP Genius Edition, so I can top "echocardiogram".

Playing the "Eye Guess" home version with my parents and trying to convince my mother that the game had a good format. Her argument was that it was too easy and "the game would be much better if the contestants just guessed instead of being allowed to see where the answers were first."

Not realizing that I wasn't surrounded by message board friends, I snapped back, "Oh, you're right, Mom. Blind guessing always makes a great game format. Let's ask the producers of 'Blank Check' how that worked out for them."

The silence in the room after that was chilling.

(FWIW, my dad really likes the game.)

I hosted an evening of "Strip Jeopardy!" one evening with three friends of both genders. It was a hoot!

What happened after the game was over? I'll never tell.

As a matter of fact, we just had a couple of these funny moments today at work.  I was hosting a game of Family Feud on our lunch hour (among a group of coworkers who attempt one of my home versions every week).

The question:  "Name something that you'd like to learn to do, but the lessons look scary."

Response:  "Knitting."

And another one given by the same person:

Question:  "Name a state with an 'Old West' tradition."

Response:  "Mississippi."

From Ray's Family Feud earlier this month:

"Name a way to relieve tension!"

A popular answer which made the survey was sex!

Directly in front of sex was: SLEEP! . . .
Ray's comment: "That's what follows!"

The next answer was ALCOHOL!
Ray's comment: "If the girl is UGLY!"

The other reveals combined with Ray's comments were totally HILARIOUS!
I was lauging so hard with Ray's comments that I've completely forgotten the
last two reveals! That has GOT to be the funniest moment I've seen with Ray in a long time! In fact, as embarrassed as Ray was, even HE was laughing! lol

At GSC9, we played Bullseye. There was a funny moment that involved yours truly.

One question was "Who said 'Martini, shaken, not stirred"

And I, not being a James Bond fan at all replied "Dean Martin"

There was the one and only time that Wheel of Jeopardy was played at my house. Basically, all it involved was the Wheel from the '80s Pressman Game and the questions and categories from the 1992 Tyco J! game. The thing that made it funny was that it was the ridiculousness of the whole premise (which led to quite a few crackups by the host and players, none of which knew what the hell they were doing).
I suppose you can still learn stuff on TLC, though it would be more in the Goofus & Gallant sense, that is (don't do what these parents did)"- Travis Eberle, 2012

A couple years ago, I spent a few months working at an amusement park here in Ohio. We started a tradition on Tuesday nights (since there wasn't much else to do) of playing "Drinking Whammy" That is, BigJon's PC game augmented with alcohol. The rule which generally led to the most drinking and laughter was that players had to yell stop when they stopped the board, otherwise they had to drink. Well, things get harder and harder to remember the drunker you get, and one girl always wound up sloshed on that rule alone!
