We almost (depending on your view) had a 3 way tie on the 4/6 show. I do remember a tie happening a couple years ago, but how was it broken? IIRC, didn't they do a toss up puzzle to break it or what?

Currently, it's a toss up puzzle... and before it was another round.

Rare, but exciting when it happened.

In the days, at least the Pat and Rolf days of the NBC daytime version, a tie at the end of the maingame meant that the three players would play again on the next show and the highest cumulative total over the two days would be the champ and played the bonus round. Rolf did not remember this rule when it occurred one time when he hosted. He had to be reminded of the rule. A speed up round would be the tiebreaker on the syndie run up until the toss-up rounds were introduced. Speed up rounds would be played on daytime shows if it was during a Teen Week. There were a couple occasions where two players were tied for third place among the top winners of the week, and they played a Speed Up round at the top of Friday's show to determine which one would move on to the finals.
