Bowling for dollars comeback?
« on: April 10, 2005, 07:08:01 PM »
What do you think? Would it fly to have a 1/2 hour bowling show? I used to watch it all the time on my local station in Canada and I think so. Problably would do better than that Horse gig they did and would cost much less $$ to do.

If not, would adding celebrities to the mix help out? If they already have card shows (Poker/Blackjack), a pool show on the way, why not include bowling? At least you don't need to build a set. :)

I'm all for it, how about you?

Pyramid: A hamburger on a grill... <buzzzz>. Hey, if Debralee could do it, so can I :)
May our losses be minimal in the game show world in 2005.
Don't think too hard... you might give yourself a headache.

I guess bowling isn't for everyone?

I guess if we call it "Extreme Bowling", then it would be a shoe-in for GSN's prime time lineup. Remember Extreme Gong? Yuck!

Not sure if that's your sig. or not, but there's an easier way to do that...go to My Controls in the top left, then click on Edit Signature on the left-hand side, then you should be able to type it in.

ObGameShow: PAX Beat The Clock was pretty bad, even by PAX standards.

Now celebrating his 22nd season on GSF!

I know it's off topic, but I don't really have a sig. I'll find one soon. Right now, I'm just toying with sig jokes and eventually have a good permanent one. Maybe something about the Family Fortunes triple turkey event? :)

Unfortunatly, PAX isn't available in my area. I always thought Definition with Jim Perry was boring but maybe it was just me (heck, I was just a kid then) :)

  • Just leave the set; that’d be terrific.

As a kind word of advice, I'll point out to you that a member here named Brian Henke attempts to post "joke sigs", and it drew the ire of several members.  Wouldn't want to see it happen to you, you appear to have intellegence, something many here lack.

Beaten to the punch: ESPN just shot a series of Bowling Night, hosted by the morning show team of Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic, to premiere April 12.

I'd prefer Dialing For Dollars. Use post card entries to determine who gets called, ask 'em what the jackpot amount is. Watch it grow or watch it go!

Does any station still use that hook?  I know KBTV/KUSA did that in the 70s.  But at $9 a pop, how high can the jackpot really go?  I think at it's peak, it was only a few hundred.

GSN should do it anyway.  After all, ESPN and GSN both do casino shows.  Just make sure they put a logo on screen to make sure people know what network they are watching.  Claster had the BFD property in the past, what is their status?  If not BFD, a revival (with Jed Allan please) of Celeb. Bowling.
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

Claster's properties are owned by Hasbro (who wanted to get their hands on the "Romper Room" trademark for their pre-school line).  I believe that Claster hasn't done anything since "Transfromers" and "Jem" (and am I the only one who when he hears about this current singer named Jem starts humming "Jem is truly outrageous..."?).  I even wonder if there's anyone at Hasbro who knows that they own "Bowling for Dollars"--and if they'd do something about it.

GSN could do a swap if Hasbro wants a few GEM cars that are gathering dust from Whammy :)

Bring back Bowling for Dollars! In Minneapolis, it must've run three days a week--the "Who Wants to Be" of its time. And it would be exciting even on the "Whammy" prize budget.

Was the game the same everywhere--that is, two balls, a strike on both wins the jackpot?

Apparently, Dallas is home to bowlers of formidable skill.
