To nitpick a little further on the interview...

TVGS: Most analysts believe the CBS Match Game was killed when it was moved to the morning, which seemed out of character for that show. How accurate is that assessment?
IRA: \"Very. Oh yes, that hurt it a lot. CBS decided to run reruns of M*A*S*H in the afternoon and they moved us out of our usual spot to four o'clock.\"

While CBS did run M*A*S*H reruns in the afternoon, he was a little quick to blame M*A*S*H; Match Game moved from 3:30 p.m. to 11:00 a.m. on November 7, 1977, as a result of the expansion of \"Guiding Light\" from 30 minutes to an hour; GL had previously aired from 2:30-3:00, with reruns of \"All in the Family\" from 3:00-3:30, and MG from 3:30-4:00. When \"Guiding Light\" expanded to an hour, that pushed \"All in the Family\" back to 3:30 and relegated MG to the 11am death slot. M*A*S*H reruns in CBS daytime replaced \"All in the Family\" in the 3:30 time slot in September, 1978.
