If they were going to stunt a remake of a game show, why would they pick Greed? I'd think that would be way down the list. Greed wasn't that good of a game, IMO.
Actually, before the whole '04 shift to non-studio games, GSN was THIS close to reviving Greed as an original series, w/a $200K top prize, but the deal broke down when producer Dick Clark wouldn't agree to a smaller licensing fee.

Really? That's an interesting fact. I remember reading that Greed was on track for syndication in 2002 with a possible 2003 launch, but it never made it. I suppose the GSN proposal came after that.
I suppose Dick Clark had to refuse the deal for business purposes, but to think that this deal not working out was part of the fact that led to GSN (for the time) abandoning studio game shows is a sad thought. Though I agree that Greed had it's issues and wasn't the best quiz show on the air, I thought it was fun to watch, and I would've liked being on a GSN revival.
