[quote name=\'Craig Karlberg\' date=\'May 8 2005, 03:31 AM\']Another intresting one from the 90's that I haven't seen in a while is where they show addresses to "fake" web sites.  I wonder if they still do that.

"Priceless Websites"...no, they haven't done that one in about three years.

[quote name=\'zachhoran\' date=\'May 7 2005, 09:11 PM\']Ditto TPIR Anagrams.

They used the Anagrams showcase a handful of times during season 27.  The first time was with Kathleen unscrambling the words, but she kept dropping the magnetic letters and had to hold a sheet to remind her how to spell the prizes.  From that point on, Jan rearranged the letters.

Forget the name of the showcase theme.  But, the showcase would start with a trip -- and then three prizes in "storefronts" of shops in the trip's destination.  Barker's beauties would be in the windows as mannequins.

"A Trip Down Main Street," Doug.  That hasn't been done since Janice and Kathleen got fired...and for that matter, neither has "Fortune Teller Machine."  I know they were each done at least once in Season 28.

Janice was great at doing the Fortune Teller! Bob always seemed impressed by it himself.

What I miss most about those theme showcases were those wacky caricatures of the show's staff that often appeared. Were they the work of Jack Hart?

Wouldn't it more likely be someone in the graphics department?  (If anyone in CBS Graphics can actually draw and paint on canvas or cardboard these days instead of a Paintbox.)

And to correct Craig K. for the first time since everyone else does, the main cue in the Time Capsule Showcases was John Williams' own disco version of the "Close Encounters" theme, which was a Top 40 hit in 1980.  (The opening, of course, was Jerry Goldsmith's "Star Trek:  The Motion Picture" theme, reused by "TNG.")

And to correct the corrector ( :) ), it was actually 1978 (although it did better than Meco's disco take, used by the Clonettes in a couple of memorable episodes of GONG).

Was "A Trip Down Main Street" the one where they started with a wide shot of the three big doors, and all you saw was the chase lights on each one? That's one of my favorite TPiR shots.

That would be it.

That was back when they still had a professional director.  :)

Speaking of the Time Capsule showcase, does anyone have a picture or video from the skit?

If someone has a video, I can give you space on my FTP server to host it.
