Reports from a number of Australian television news sites now put the debut date of the second revival of the Australian version of Sale of the Century, now renamed Temptation (the name the Australians originally knew the show by during the 1970s) at May 30, at 7PM their time. From all indications, it looks like the basic Grundy-style format is intact (with the Fame Game, and Fast Money/Speedround having been definitely preserved), but there are still many unknowns. Among them: no word on how the show's final act will play out (Shopping Round, Winner's Board, or something else?); the reports say there are new ways for the show's contestants be tempted, but what does that mean (bigger Instant Bargain/Gift Shop prizes, bigger Cashcard rewards, new minigames?); but biggest of all...will the Australian viewers return to the show in significant enough numbers to approach the 1980-2001 incarnation's success?
Only time, and our friends Down Under, will tell.
