Question on this Wheel of Fortune Video
« on: May 24, 2005, 02:04:32 PM »
I watched a video from the Nighttime Wheel of Fortune and I noticed that there was a contestant got over $62,000 at this point, the good news is she didn't land on a Bankrupt, but the bad news is she picked the wrong consonant and the turn didn't came back to her. Now here are a couple of questions

1)How many times did the contestant land on the $5,000 space in Round 3 to get to the $62,000+ total before she lost her turn?

2)We know that this one was from 1985 and this is from the Syndie Nighttime version and it does have the shopping for prizes turntable being seen center stage, but is this one from Season 2 or is this from Season 3, shortly before Mr. Sajak stopped wearing vests to Wheel?

If Iris was a video, you'd think someone would have gone NBC circa 1978 on it by now.

He/she/it's making progress though. He/she/it is starting to get the hang of proper pronunciation, and I was able to comprehend the post, even though I just woke up. The free Hooked on Phonics parting gifts from TPiR* are really coming in handy.

*Zach, I don't know if TPiR offers Hooked on Phonics as a parting gift, and I really don't f(bleep)ing care. It's a joke, so just sit down and shut up.

BTW, Iris, it was late-1985, so season 3.

Now celebrating his 22nd season on GSF!

I know something about how this show is starting to circulate. Hmmmm

To reply:

1 - Maybe 3, and got lucky with choosing letters that were in the puzzel 3 and 4 times each.

2 - Its from the '85 - '86 syndicated dsason GSN never ran. Pat's got a vest but the haircut he has had for the last 20 years.

Is this a video clip that is available on the internet? If so, where can I find it?

EDIT: Found it. Never mind.

Oh if only she had picked an L.. if she had done that she could've virtually walked away with all the prizes on the turntable and a car or two(unless she put all that money ON ACCOUNT).. then maybe won another one in the bonus round..

I mean, $62000+.. that's almost the 2/3 to 3/4 of the value of the prizes that were available for shopping at the time I believe.. what was the total value of the prizes available around 1985 anyway?

Of course, we all know about that $50,000+ win in 1987 with the puzzle AN AMERICAN SUCCESS STORY, which was shown on the 4000th WOF ep.

My mistake.. that $57,000+ was the final total she won for all the three rounds.. my bad.

Around that time, the average value announced at the top of the show was in the low $100K range IIRC. IMagine the editing that would have to be done to get all those prize descriptions in if she did win that round. It turned that out her miss gave them time to play a fourth round. Another lady won the game on that fourth puzzle via a $5K Speed Up spin. She acted Samoan when she won a car in the bonus round.

I watched in horror, like I'm sure the rest of you did.

How on earth did she get up to $62,400?  Was she 'gaming' the wheel to hit $5k every time?

(On another note, did Wheel have several 'large' prizes that were never revealed, but available, in case somebody went completely apeshit and won a bundle of money?)
If you didn’t create it, it isn’t your content.

The Sams/Shook WOF book from 1987 said they did have a few such prizes, they mentioned one or two of them, but what rthey were escape me at the moment.
