Modor, I didn't say Double Prices cause that's a Spectacular-only car game. About 1/4 to 1/3 of the time, Pushover is played for a car.

Money game plus two others, eh?

That's Too Much, despite the time Bob takes out to make sure the contestant properly phrases their answer, I think would be one of these two.

I'd go with the Dice Game for the other one. Four rolls, then a check. Very quick.

That's absurd.  It happens about three times a year.

In fact, based on some quick (and admittedly obsessive) calculations, Push Over has been played in daytime 158 times, with a car showing up in about 18 of those playings (and I think at least one of those was actually for a 5-digit boat, but accounting for that would overcomplicate something that I'm already overcomplicating as it is).  That's slightly over 11% -- nowhere near a quarter of the time.

Dice Game is indeed correct; Cover Up is not.

What am I missing?  Dice Game has nine characters (including the space), Cover Up and One Away have eight apiece (and ergo, have shorter titles than Dice Game).

Or am I being way too analytical?

Card Game would be the other, it seems.  Or Spelling (Bee), because they use a bee instead of the word written out.
If you didn’t create it, it isn’t your content.

I'm sorry. Are we talking about how long it takes to play the game or how the game's name is?

The length of time, as far as I know.  I'm not sure if I missed a joke with Doug or what, but...yeah, this isn't about spelling. :-)

EDIT:  Okay, I see the problem.  (Thanks, Travis.)  When John said, "shortest car game title," he meant, "the title of Shortest Car Game."

I wasn't joking (and usually when I do, I'm bad at it anyway ;-) ).  But CGJ's reference went way over my head, because I still don't see what he's driving at (no pun intended).

It's prolly so simple that I deserve a WHOOOOSH, but I'll patiently await his explanation.

He can explain it a lot better than I can, but basically, the show has an official "timing" rating for each pricing game, which includes the length of the entire act the game is played during.  It's mostly there as something for Roger to use when he's building a lineup.

No need for a WHOOOOSH, just an explanation since I must have mislead everyone.

Steve is correct; the games are timed by Act.  The gameplay portion makes up 28 minutes of the show.  Roger needs to keep this in mind when scheduling the games, which is unfortunately why some of the more popular games see less play, they take a long time to play -- and the reason why less popular games, such as Bargain Game show up more often, since they are shorter and help make up time.

There are 3 car games; Money Game, Dice Game, and Lucky $even which are timed as the fastest car games on the show.  Logically, this is why these games are previlant in the weekly lineups.  Double Prices being the fastest game on the list sees an unfortunately inordinate amount of play, however, it allows for games like 3 Strikes to see the light of day.

I got it.  Hit me over the head enough times and it'll come.  :)

I've always thought it could help if they went back to sometimes only having 1 car game in an episode, like they sometimes did before Season 31.  They'd sometimes have only one bona-fide car game, and a non-car game played for a car in the other half, and that's it.  It seems that could easily help with the time issue, not to mention, add a bit of nice little variety to the lineups.

That's a good idea. They could play SP games more often because they wouldn't have to worry about squeezing a car game in. There would be tons of combos, as you said, because all GP games, all SP games, and many One and Two Prize Games could be played for cars.

Another thing they could do that I remember from watching GSN is play a car game in one half and a cash game in the other half. I don't that would be as widely accepted as Frank's idea, though.

Well, they did that in the early 80s at a time when winning $10,000 on a game show was a bigger deal - especially considering cars were still around 5-8k.

The trouble with doing one car game is that it seems when people go to the studio (not us, of course), it's almost as if they have their heart set on winning a new car. It's probably the reason why so many of them are offered during primetime specials, and why Triple Play was invented. I don't think most people go to TPiR cause they wanna win a sofa or telephone or worthless crap like that.
