More UK "Distraction," and two more clips from "I'm with Stupid."  New things from "Family Fortunes" and the Top Five Blonde Moments.  No additional pilots, but there IS a clip from '94 Feud....

Which of course, meant more of seeing the Feud set again - this time they showed more  of it. That set looks weird without the Feud podiums on it and such.

Kind of a bizarro "Feud", if you will. Always weird seeing sets you know, used for something else ("Brian's Song" used the interior of the Bewitched house; "Mannix" at times used the interior of the "Brady Bunch" house...)

When I was working in television, some production group paid us some money to use our news studio for a few hours. I walked into work, and I saw a large sign reading "Is It Valid?" hanging over our Fox News logo. (I am fairly sure that this production was in no way affiliated with "Is It Buoyant?" :)) They were shooting some kind of industrial video, but it was weird to see our newsroom semi-transformed.

Similarly, seeing the "Weakest Link" set in NBC studio 1 transformed for an episode of "West Wing" where Martin Sheen has a heart attack while delivering a campaign speech.

And back on topic, did anyone notice that "Bananas" is taped in the "American Idol" studio?

Makes sense, since they're both Fremantle productions....

I liked seeing a taste of Dennis James' TPiR...and for those of you who care about such things, the credits were as God made them and not re-entered by VH1, at least for the ayem airing.

I know some people don't like the Distraction clips, but I enjoyed seeing them. Jimmy Carr really is a fast thinker, though, isn't he? I think Distraction would be a much better game show in the US if Comedy Central aired it at an hour where they would allow them to get away with more. As disgusting as the testicle clip was, it did give me a sick feeling of "better him than me".

I might be the only one that feels this, but the US version of Distraction is easily the best game show Fremantle has put together, and this special has shown it to me (not counting TPiR).  Boy am I happy they left out the gross food stunts and just left physical/psychological comedy and challenges in it.  I'm almost amazed that the US actually toned down a set and got rid of most of the veri-lighting from the UK version.  This special was much better than the first edition, though.  I'm just getting a tad sick of Family Feud clips, though.

I dunno, I thought the qualifying round where they had to slam a shot of hot sauce to ring in was pretty funny. :)

And if I'm not mistaken (and I could be), the "Swan" pageants were also in the "Idol" studio.  Same ownership.

I think it's high time for a "Best of Family Feud" standalone special.  The moments from that show are usually great, but they do take up 75% of, like, every game show special ever made.  Imagine the nightmare if Fremantle had the rights to overplay Newlywed Game clips too, again like every other GS retrospect.  Give FF its own special if you MUST highlight every little thing from it.  (I wouldn't mind seeing, along with the usual suspects, subtitled clips from 100 Mexicanos Dijeron)

How about the "courtesy of GSN" credit at the end for CS, TPIR, and FF?  (subtext: "please don't sue us!")  I wonder, why not the other G-T shows?
I'm a pacifist, and even I would like to see a little more action.

You know what? I don't think you talk about this show nearly enough.

Again this week, they were the most offensive, in-poorest-taste clips imaginable.

This episode was another poor effort, given the source material that was available.

I agree with you there......The gross-out food stunts, to me, smack of "Fear Factor" - if I wanna see that (which I don't), I'll watch "Fear Factor" instead. I, too, wish they wouldn't include the UK Distraction food stunts in the clip specials too.

Oddly enough, I've never seen an episode of "Distraction" when watching Comedy Central, I've just caught the two episodes that are "On Demand"....

  • Just leave the set; that’d be terrific.

Yes.
Showing the "September" clip for the 55th time will be absolutely hysterical.  Criminy.
