A year ago, I went to Foxwoods casino to meet Monty Hall and watch him perform the live "Lets Make A Deal" show for casino players.....Rich was Jay Stewart, running around the audience and keeping notes for who got how much money....

A story I was told was that Rich Jeffries took Gene Wood's advice of announcing with a nasal tone. I understand Rich doesn't talk with a nasal tone in normal conversation.

And I don't think Mark has hit the Mega Millions yet, either. ;-P

Good...that Jay Stewart/Bullwinkle hybrid voice would grate on people's nerves afrer awhile.

That's some bad advice.  Gene probably told him that to eliminate the competition.

Yeah, I'm pursuing a broadcasting/voiceover career, and from what I've always understood, you don't want to sound nasal.  Granted, I think the nasal style worked for Gene, but that doesn't mean that it's always the way to go.

Please don't emulate Burton Richardson, either. The world doesn't need any more puking announcers.

Funny, I've done an impersonation of him for many years, but prior to TNPiR, I simply referred to it as my "over the top generic game show announcer" voice. When general public thinks of game show cheese, they generally think of someone who sounds like him, IMO.
Help control the moron population, if you know a moron, kick him in a strategic location.

...which I would think is exactly why you'd want to try to avoid sounding that way.
