Be glad Price isn't on GSN.

They would run the same episodes over and over again.

Not to mention the speed-ups.
And split screens..... but still, it would be nice to see classic TPiR eps again, even if they were sped up...

Why not Rod Roddy? He is familiar and glib (I met him during a session of Hit Man). There is presidence: Bob Clayton took over (eventually) from Hugh Downs when the latter left Concentration.

Add to the announcer-turned-host for a show list: Gene Wood, who made his GT debut announcing the late 60s/early 70s syndie Jack Narz version of Beat the Clock and later took over as host.

With all due respect, Gene is a great guy and all. But he was a terrible host on Beat The Clock.  Just my opinion.

Hey, I was actually trying to search for another post, and bumped into this old thread, but good one.

Since no one has replied to this thread since Rich joined the show, I figured I bring it up. I get the feeling that Rich MIGHT be a possible replacement for Bob if the show goes on? I mean, he puts the man up on a pedestal letting him be on camera at the end of almost every show. And you can tell by Bob and Rich's interaction, that Bob approves of Rich, and actually treats him a helluva lot better than he did Rod Roddy(another topic for another day). Whatcha all think, Rich for host once Bob hangs it up?

Oh dear God no...we already have a screamfest behind the camera for the whole damn show.  I can only imagine what he'd be like in front of the camera directy dealing with conestants...oh wait, yes I do--he'd be exactly like Todd Newton.

After Bob is done, maybe the foreign cars will be let back on the show (BMW, Porsche, Jaguar, etc.). Or maybe Roger will stick to his guns. Who knows.

His death in 2003 prevents him from taking over hosing duties at Price is Right.

Otherwise I'd have nominated Bert Convy.

And if you had read the date of the post, it says JULY 11 2003.  That was before he died....  just please check the date a little bit more closely when we bump old threads... :-\

But Barker's retirement that hasn't happened yet was the eternal meta-topic in ATGS and still is.......

I would have to agree with you but Tom Kennedy would be a tad better (I wish he was younger though) and with previous TPIR experience, he'd be my first pick. He was darn good on TPIR... I wish it lasted longer though... oh well.

I might be out on left field but it sounds though like someone's maybe hinting about digitizing the dead into a VR game show host. I think the technology is still a bit far off for that to be realistic. I'm talking about full 3D virtual reality and not just some flat cg thing that us viewers could see at home and the studio audience would have to watch a big screen for Bob. Have to shake hands with a mannequin when going up on stage... oy! :)

I'm having enough nightmares with a cartoon Vanna on Wheel 2k :)
Don't think too hard... you might give yourself a headache.

I was thinking of a four-letter word starting with "TW-", yes. :)
