[quote name=\'wschmrdr\' date=\'Jun 18 2005, 10:14 PM\']Uh clemon, IIRC, the contestants have to pay their way to the studio. They're not getting something for nothing, since they do have to pay for it in the form of getting to the studio.

"Getting to the studio" is exactly what they're getting in return for their payment.  They are not paying for the prize.  If you look at, say, the cost of a plane ticket and cab fare as "paying for the prize," then what happens if you don't win, or don't get on in the first place?  Have you shelled out money for no reason?

Anyone who goes to TPIR expecting to get on stage and win a car is nothing short of deluded.  Hoping to do so is fine; if you consider anything short of a car win to be a complete failure, perhaps your best bet is not to go in the first place.

Or alive, for that matter.

That sounds like a good rule of thumb, but be honest: If you made it on stage on TPIR to play Clock Game, and the prizes were a giant novelty gumball machine and a designer evening gown, don't you think you'd have trouble looking excited?

Not really.  :)

  • Just leave the set; that’d be terrific.

I like gumballs.
And, so do the huns.  I'd be excited to see what happens after that designer evening gown comes off.
