Just to make sure we don't duplicate threads, this was already discussed in this thread earlier.

Glad to see that my hunch about speedier puzzle solving was correct (or at least, that's what they're hoping "Movie Title" will do).

So... part of the appeal of Wheel of Fortune comes from the idea that if a contestant keeps spinning to rack up cash even though they already know the puzzle, the home viewers will figure out the puzzle before the contestant solves it, creating an "I'm smarter than the players!" feeling. In theory -- I wish more contestants would do that.

Anyway, will speedier puzzle-solving alienate the viewers that are... let's say, slower on the uptake? Or will they instead be dazzled by how quickly everybody is now solving things?

Looking forward to "State Capital"!

(Good heavens, I just expressed concern about appealing to the lowest common denominator. I'm going to go shoot myself.)

As a rule, when watching WOF, I get that feeling when the show fades up out of black...

Am I the only one who read the topic and thought "But if the wheel spins faster, it'll take longer for it to stop"?

. . . all right, then.

Well, give them effort in that they're trying to add more gameplay to an extent to the...ah who the hell am I kidding, it's the watering down of a format we all know and love before our very eyes.  I mean they can only do so much, right?  They've cut out the majority of the actual spinning on the show, then add toss ups, then the Novocom esque trillion color vomit graphics and set.  What next?  A hyper Todd Newton a la Whammy to take over as host when Pat leaves?

Todd: LOOK AT YOU!  BANKRUPT!  A letter please.  (Director off stage throws clipboard down in disdain.)

Too bad she didn't have the chance to be Robin Ward's co-host. It'd have saved him the trouble.

Actually, it wouldn't be Newton, since he's Barker's replacement (in some circles, and does the stage show regularly).  I wouldn't be surprised if Seacrest had a post-Sajak run.

I think I remember an episode last year where there were ACTUALLY 11 puzzles played during that show(7 maingame, 3 toss-ups & the bonus puzzle).  I don't mind speeding up the pace a bit, but there'll be a time when on a really fast day, I wouldn't be surprised to se 14 puzzles played.  But, there are limitations to that end.  Hopefully, the "average" of 11 is fast enough.  ISTR those days when there were only 5 or 6 puzzles played in a half-hour show(4 or 5 if you consider the on-location shows & special weeks with 2-player teams involved).

What was the average during the shopping era. And honestly, since the wheel was a bit "looser" back then, wasn't the wheel technically faster?
