Things That CP and BL have in common
« on: August 28, 2005, 06:13:51 PM »
I have some interesting things that both Child's Play and Body Language have in common in fact there are at least 5 things that both of these shows have in common and they were:

1) They feature both legendary hosts who wore glasses.
2) They were both self-contained shows throughout the whole series.
3) They both started and ended their series in the '80s.
4) They both debuted on CBS.
5) They both featured hosts introduces the 2 civilian contestants at the beginning of each episode.
6) They both have bonus games being played in segment 4 only(sometimes the bonus game on both shows could be played in segment 5 and then straight to the fee plugs).
7) Both shows have the end of the episode product plugs fanning from one product to another.
8) Both shows feature a new MGP logo but doesn't show a CBS Television City caption when the credits were short and only shows that caption when the credits were long.

Oh, boy. Here we go...

Quote
1) They feature both legendary hosts who wore glasses.
Many shows had legendary hosts with classes.
Quote
2) They were both self-contained shows throughout the whole series.
As were many game shows.
Quote
3) They both started and ended their series in the '80s.
As did many game shows.
Quote
4) They both debuted on CBS.
As did many game shows.
Quote
5) They both featured hosts introduces the 2 civilian contestants at the beginning of each episode.
Doesn't damn near EVERY game show do this?
Quote
6) They both have bonus games being played in segment 4 only(sometimes the bonus game on both shows could be played in segment 5 and then straight to the fee plugs).
So the hell what?
Quote
7) Both shows have the end of the episode product plugs fanning from one product to another.
Again, so the hell what?
Quote
8) Both shows feature a new MGP logo but doesn't show a CBS Television City caption when the credits were short and only shows that caption when the credits were long.
I'll try one more time. So the hell what?

Chris, I'll let you do the honors, but I submit to you a candidate for today's Scarecrow award.

The Scarecrow is our esteemed Dr. Justice's to distribute, and Iris is already a charter member of the Mah-Rone Hall Of Fame. :)

My turn! My turn!
17.) Both were replaced by Press Your Luck.
18.) Both shows had announcers who were men.
19.) Both featured hosts who wore ties.
20.) Both were cancelled.
21.) Both had an audience.

Next.....

THIS one I actually like.

They both had theme songs from Score Productions...yeah, I know most MG(-BT) shows did, but still...
"It wasn't like this on Tic Tac Dough...Wink never gave a damn!"

They were both the topic of a totally asinine thread at The Game Show Forum.

They both had chaser lights.
They both used eggcrate fonts for their scores.
They both had applause signs in the audience.
They both were rerun on GSN.
They both are availible on the trading circuit.
They both aren't popular on the trading circuit. (may not be true, but it was just fun to say)

Sorry to be late with this, but (A) I've been moving and (B) I've been settling into a new position at the university.  And yes, indeed, a post this blantantly, um, dumb, deserves a Scarecrow.  All of this info cited above is available in the Encyclopedia of TV Game Shows, which I'd wager the vast majority of us in this group have.  Those of us who don't know how to use a library, or at least should.

Browsing through the replies, I STILL don't see a satisfactory answer to "So what" on this post.
