Should have done it "right" the first time, or at least by mid season--the ratings had to be in the tanker by then...

They didn't have a mid-season--the 100 or so episodes ran out by February and they never went back into production to finish out the season.  Most stations had dropped it or moved it into the dead slots by that time, anyway.
