That mental image sent me scurrying to Bed, Bath and Beyond, but DRAT! it's late at night and closed. Thanks a lot.

I believe $100K+ happened only once due to the jettisoning of The Ultimate Challenge. Didn't they even cool with it with unlimited winnings eventually?

Stanley Newman, the biggest winner on the Challengers, won $112,480, although that probably included TofC winnings, no? I don't recall ever hearing there being a limit on appearances.

The same Stanley Newman, of course, who helped Peter Gordon win a bunch o' money on "Twenty-One" - and both, coincidentally, work as crossword editors for New York newspapers - Stan for Newsday, and Peter for the New York Sun.

As any constructor will tell you, Peter is as tough an editor as they come - I've never been able to get a puzzle past his radar - but the ones that do are gems. Stan, unfortunately, runs a shop that's pretty much closed to freelancers, relying on a small staff to produce his puzzles.

On his last show, he bet everything on the Final Challenge, lost, and his final total was the $112,480.  There was no such limit on appearances, or times that a person could win the Ultimate Challenge: I think Stan (as he was called on the show) won two of 'em.  Winning even ONE was a feat in itself.

Didn't Peter Gordon lose to Dave Legler in his fourth or fifth game?

Travis, I hate to challenge you on this, but if I remember correctly Stan didn't even make it to the Final Challenge on his last day as champion, as he was eliminated for finishing in the red. I do remember seeing this episode.

[Chuck Reilly] "Trump Card" is a production of Createl, Ltd. in association with Fiedler/Berlin Productions and Lorimar Television, and distributed by Warner Bros. Domestic Distribution.  [CR]

"Challengers" was Disney/Buena Vista.  Don Morrow didn't read a slate, we just had Ronnie Greenberg's silhouette teeing off and the dick clark productions animation.

In regards to Challengers, did the same three logos end LMAD90, and if so, did the Buena Vista logo have the words "Distributed By" on it?

Also, I remember another '90 Syndie, Quiz Kids Challenge. Who distributed it?

I think this is a fine time to ask: is there anyone left on the boards here who does not have the Encyclopedia of TV Game Shows?  Because I'm sure the answer to "Who was the syndicate for Show X"? would be in there.

After respecting Travis' post, I will state that Guber/Peters, who had just acquired Chuck Barris' companies, distributed it (it was originally going to have the Barris nameplate on it).  Sony got the Barris shows as part of the deal that made Peter Guber and Jon Peters the studio chiefs for a brief period of time (Sony took over ownership of Guber/Peters' properties).

SortaObGameShow:  Guber and Peter Bart's "Sunday Morning Shootout" show on AMC is produced by Scott Sternberg, who was Barris' production chief when Guber and Peters bought the company out.

I've got the first two encyclopedias and in many cases, the syndicator is not listed.  Did they add them in the more recent editions?
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

I don't.

But, then again, I cannot begin to fathom the appeal of threads about syndicators, or time slots, or changes in network affiliation.

It's an acquired taste, along the lines of "What Did They Serve for Lunch at the Card Sharks Taping of (INSERT DATE)?" or "How Many Barney's Suits Did Bill Cullen Actually Own?" or "What Is the Most Popular Brand of Suntan Lotion Used by Game Show Models?" -- you know, that kind of thing.

Yeah, because Zach's totally qualified to be criticizing someone else for being annoying.

Quit trying to be part of the gang, Zach. It's not gonna happen.
