A show called "Starting Over" airs on an NBC affiliate here in Minnesota from 2-3pm.  Maybe NBC is taking that timeslot back?
A quick search shows me that A)It's in its 3rd season and B)It's syndicated.
Let's try this AGAIN, people.

"NBC" doesn't just mean "the NBC Television Network" anymore, and hasn't for some time. Deal or No Deal will almost certainly NOT be a part of a monolithic NBC network daytime lineup in the traditional sense that prevailed in the 60s and 70s.

In fact, Starting Over is a very good example of the model DoND might follow. It is a syndicated show produced by NBC and typically airing on NBC affiliated stations.  Its identity is more closely tied to the network than, say, Regis & Kelly is with ABC, but it IS a syndicated show that's simply produced by NBC, just as DoND might be.
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
A daily version of "DOND" would almost certainly be syndicated--by NBC Universal.

And may I add that that non-game "DOND" is Channel 4's highest-rated show in the UK, with less flash and future contestants guarding the cases instead of models?  Could it just be that Noel Edmonds is making the show work over there--and that this is an instance of a good host masking the format weaknesses?

I think it's part Noel and part contestants, really.  After watching a string of the shows, you do get attached to some of the contestants (not in a B, B & B way mind you), and I think that has some of the allure.  There's always the bonus of no ADR as well. ;)

That said, on a slightly off-topic note, I don't see Starting Over staying on if Megan's coming aboard; that, or Megan will pull a Sharon Osborne and wait until 06-07.... unless the WB 100+ comes along and snatches Megan up.  Just my .02 on that.

It's not just the UK version, the Italian and French daily versions are doing well as well. The Mexican primetime show spawned a daily show and is now on six times a week. And don't forget the Australians!

I maintain that the only place where the show doesn't appear to have been at least a moderate success is Germany.

Well, what's not to love? But we wouldn't want to make Pat O'Brien jealous. Or Diana DeGarmo.
And right now I'm in the mood for a sandwich.

It airs in my area on an ABC station at 9 AM...and they usually cut off the NBC-Universal reference at the end.

And in Chicago "Starting Over" is on WGN after spending its first year on NBC's WMAQ and a couple of years on UPN station WPWR, as noted earlier this week while I was sick and letting NBCU's Maury's umpteenth paternity test result announcement drone over me.

Of course, NBCU's syndication catalog is too [Donald] yooge [Donald] to be covered by just one station in a market--and a lot of it's divided between WGN, WFLD and WPWR in Chicago.  WMAQ also runs the non-NBCU Ellen and Tony on their lineup--yes, they're an item!  :)

Dude...please STOP. You're so far out the loop it's not funny. I see I'm gonna have to add joke disclaimers the way I do with Zach, because neither of you would know a joke if it punched you in the mouth.
