Five points to Jimmy for correctly recognizing my reference and a ten point bonus for the improvement. :-)

Does anyone know if this pilot actually taped, and have any details?

No "whoosh" here!  Todd Newton hosted the pilot. It taped a couple of months ago and looks good.

That screams "GSN Pickup". I'm putting 10 bucks into the kitty, saying "Lingo/CatchPhrase" hour this fall.

Ah, so only Chris Lemon is allowed to have dismissive opinions on game show news.

Quoting you directly from the Game Show Marathon thread:
Quote
I'm still holding out hope that by "hosting" they mean "presiding over things and then pitching it to a real host when it's time to actually play the game."

Unfortunately, the article doesn't seen to bear that out. Yeesh. I'll still watch and hope I'm wrong, but the potential for embarrassing suckage is there.

So, you can make negative comments, and I can't, based on the fact you don't like some posts I've made in the past?

Let's not go down that road.

Ya know, I'd respond to this if it wasn't coming from someone who has made a cottage industry out of being pissed off at....well, everything. So I won't.

And since this is being steered off topic, I shall comment that I'm looking forward to Catch Phrase coming back a great deal. If it's done right I think it could be pretty neat.

Instead of sweeping generalizations, let's tackle things point by point.

* I never got to see Catch Phrase in its original run. I didn't know the show existed until years later and I saw the entry in the GSE. And even then, I didn't know how freakin' neat a concept it was until I saw the clips of it on the various "Moments" specials or video clips. So I for one am jacked to see that it's moving forward.

* If the producers are telling him to play things more low-key than they were on "Whammy!", then he'll be fine. He was actually good on "Hollywood Showdown," he's only doing what the folks backstage want the host to look like. That said, I wouldn't want that caricature anywhere near a show I was producing.

* So, why aren't we hearing from more people about this? The naysayer who complain that there aren't any new game shows anymore, and so on. And this is looking to be on GSN, too! I know there are tons of people who complain that GSN doesn't have enough original programming. Guess what? This would do nicely. If it does pair up with "Lingo," so much the better for both shows.

I'm surprised at the low level of excitement here, especially in a group of game show fans.
If you didn’t create it, it isn’t your content.

The low level of excitement has to do with the large number of past game show pilots that did not get picked up.  I will get excited when it is a firm go.
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

Let me put this as diplomatically as I can, Mark: if having dismissive opinions or making negative comments were not allowed, you would have committed just over three thousand bannable offenses by now.

There is a world of difference between the level of negativity in a particular opinion and the frequency of said negative opinions.

And if it is a "firm go", please list all of the cable companies that will carry GSN to air the show.

(Little blast from the past for some folks here. :))

Seriously, I agree, but the last few pilots GSN has put together have been, well, unpromising. The last one I can think of is that weird Scrabble thing that seemed too complicated for most folks. (Which made me sad, as I love Scrabble, despite the fact that I am perfectly awful at it.)

This one....well, kinda hard to screw up, to be honest. Even if you don't like Newton, he doesn't really have that much to do, so that's fine. And with computer graphics having improved greatly in 20 years, the puzzles are very likely easier to put together (Flash movies, anyone?) and would look that much better.

I'm confident.
