And with those odds, unless you need the $1,000 ... I'd say go for it.
If I was playing Grand Game, I wouldn't even let myself be faced with that question of stopping at $1K. I would leave the obvious item (like the gum) last. Pick the two next ones to get to $100 then deceide which of the remaining three (not counting the obvious one) to pick for $1K.
Afterall $100 is $100.
