Four weeks, from #461 thru #480.  These episodes last aired Oct-Nov 2003.

Was this the first attempt to stop everyone from constantly trying to match Richard, before the Star Wheel?
First and only, I believe.

It was.

And that's two weeks longer than *I* thought it lasted.

They might have retired that short-lived rule due to the possibility of someone matching all six celebs in the Head-to-Head and still not cracking the $25K CBS limit.

Um, no. The only person you couldn't pick is the one you picked the last game. If you picked Richard in your first head-to-head, you could pick him again for your third.

My guess is they retired the rule because it sucked.

The 75 show is the first MG episode I've seen that I can remember watching in its original broadcast, so evidently I had seen this rule before. I knew of the rule, but I didn't remember that I'd seen it until now.

And one might assume that the target of the rule change wasn't too happy about it, either.  How far he went over Ira's head, we'll never know.
I can imagine he'd be rightly pissed off. How did the Super Match end up being Richard's Round, anyway? He wasn't even a regularly at the beginning. The first person to pick him probably got lucky and won, but that's a far cry from "I'll pick Richard again, Gene" and so on.

Richard was as you know a regular on MG7x from the beginning of the run, having been on every show from show one through Fall 1978 when he left the show. In the first year or so, Richard didn't seem to be picked every single time like was the case by 1975 when the short-lived rule change discussed in this thread took effect.
Here are Tuesday night's episode numbers and VTR dates:
11:00- MG75  #0471  VTR 5-5-75
11:30- MG74  #0277  VTR 7-26-74

In the 75 show, I saw a rule enforced that I really don't remember seeing before (or perhaps I had forgotten it).  After the contestant won the audience match, Gene told her that, since last time she did the head-to-head match with Richard, "the rule says you can't choose the same person twice", and she chose Brett instead.  How long did this rule last?  Was this the first attempt to stop everyone from constantly trying to match Richard, before the Star Wheel?

They had episode numbers and VTR dates last night for MG75 and MG76 as well.

Seems to me they do it every night. And most of the nights I've caught an episode, GSN will throw it over to a break showing one of MG7x's famous "mixed face" ticket plugs(sans ticket address), which often will feature different celebs from the show they're airing at that point.

Yeah, I know they've been doing slates ever since "That 70's Hour" started.  I had just been curious to know if they were going to give slates for the out-of-sequence shows for this week or not.  Finding out the obvious answer, I posted it for the benefit of all.  I just never got around to posting the slates for the other shows, partially because I wasn't sure if anyone that hadn't already taped them for themselves would want to know.  Also, I hadn't gotten around to it yet.

BTW, no 70's Hour tonight, but a 2-hour Amazing Race.

Another unexpected ad-lib from Johnny on the first of Tuesday's slates:

To continue the "70's Hour" thread...
I realize the pathetic-ness of debating events from a 32-year-old game show, but has it ever been explained WHY Kaye Stevens was a semi-regular on MG74?  She's in the shows currently airing in the 70's Hour block, making a complete ass of herself.  Cackling pretty much continuously, and talking over everyone else.  You can really see how annoyed everyone was with her; however,  they left her mic wide open and apparently did not try to shut her up.  These shows are simply uncomfortable to watch.  And they invited her back THREE MORE TIMES?  Why?  IMDB shows her career at that time as being on "Days of Our Lives", an NBC soap- so she wasn't even a CBS personality.

This seems like a question that must have been discussed somewhere before so if an answer exists, I will be most grateful for it.

Wash's she on along with that Tom Lindstrom guy? They were some kind of item, they did a lot of TattleTales together. So maybe in order to get HIM, they had to deal with HER.

The name doesn't ring a bell.  Unless her being on MG was part of a deal for the pair to appear on TT?
