[quote name=\'Jimmy Owen\' date=\'Feb 4 2006, 04:06 AM\']I've always thought that people like what they first saw, so if the '80's set is the first one you saw, that's the one you like best.

Perhaps the same holds true with The Price is Right, but that's another topic.  :-P

I also like the 80s set.  Orange and brown just don't seem too colorful.

The main argument I've heard against the 80s set is that it's TOO colorful. Some people don't like a mix of gold, bright red and baby blue. I, for one, love it.

I loved the '80s set for all the reasons everyone's mentioned...and maybe because it was functional too. No bells and whistles, and it was elegant for an '80s set.

Joe Viewer *knew* that they were watching Pyramid when they saw any minute of that show. The set was very important.

And that, IMO, was what made the 80s Pyramid set actually look like a game show.

Somewhat unrelated: all GSN thank-yous aside (and I am thankful for their current schedule), I am so sick of seeing not only the same celebrities, but the same contestants over and over on the runs of Pyramid GSN is showing.

I think it's time to change seasons on the $100K run or start showing mid-'80s $25K eps. No Donny though. Alternatively, how about Joker's Wild? Haha...

I wouldn't mind at all if they went back to daytime $25K eps either. I wonder if they have to buy access to both serii seperately.

[quote name=\'TimK2003\' date=\'Feb 4 2006, 10:19 AM\']My vote goes for That 70's Set.  I thought it was cool to see the chasing lights around the pyramid go into warp speed when there was a Winners Circle win along with the shaking trilons.

I thought the "shaking trilon" gimmick didnt start until the 80s $25,000 Pyramid.

They've used it in the 70s...there's one clip around the Interweb somewhere with William Shatner giving and receiving....clues, and at the end, the trilons shake.

Being new, I'm almost afraid to say this (not that it's saying much), but I think one of the best things about Donnymid was the set.  That said, I do prefer the DC 80's set overall, although it was pretty cool having the "monitors" on the Main Game "Pyramid" during the JD version.  Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the only time after the 70's "Shakers" was on $100,000 Tournament Weeks.  I don't remember any regular $10,000 or $25,000 wins doing the shake.

No need to worry: you're just using a basic process of elimination. ;)

1970s: Looked like not much was there but a big bunch of carpet. I do prefer the score readouts from the New York era, though.
1980s: Loved that set above the others.
1990s: Too cramped. And the emcee gave me cramps.
2000s: Erector set hell.

Interesting you mention cramped with the Davidson set, which was essentially the 80s set with an altered light pattern, fonts, and monitors on the main game pyramid.  In the clips I've seen, it seems like they tried to back everything up a little much...namely when you see the two shot during the Winner's Circle.
