DoND will be 1 hr., 35 minutes due to a presidential address or conference Monday night. It won't be pre-empted, just edited down.
So, if you're even *thinking* about calling your local NBC's affiliate switchboard, you're wasting your time this go-around.
My .02 is that they'll cut out the check presentations at least.

The two hour DOND's can use some editing, so Bush's pep rally is as good as excuse as any to edit it down.

I doubt this, but will the entire 2-hour braodcast be re-aired on CNBC the next night? Did they do this with the previous 2-hour special?

Don't know about CNBC, but the 2-hour episode will air in its entirety outside of the Eastern/Central time zones, as NBC is airing the speech live in alll time zones so it will air outside of prime-time out west.
-
Could the extra segments that are edited out on the East/Central zones be put on NBC.com?
-
Just for clarification: Will there be no loss of game play in this edited version?
Thanks.

The problem with this: FOX at least touted that they will be showing the shows IN FULL after the president's speech (and they do have it scheduled for 8:20/7:20

If I understand Terry the K's issue (and it's possible I don't), it's that FOX is not trimming their shows to end on time while NBC is. Of course, it's not like FOX has a big late-night program to get to at 11:35 ET/PT.

I honestly don't see any problem whatsoever with trimming down a 2-hour episode of a game show, esp. when said 2-hour episode is dramatically stretched out when it's a normal one-hour episode.
But I'm not one to think normally. :-P

I dunno--maybe he'd prefer that NBC show the ep in its entirety, or that FOX trim their shows to get 24 started on time.

This is why it pays to be able to have East and west coast feeds, as the other time zones are to have the normal 2 hr version in full. That's my hope, at least.

I don't know.... the show that I saw (East Coast feed) looked like there was still a lot of chaff left in it, with such stunts as the cameo appearances of Regis Philbin (who seemed miffed when Howie said "final answer") and Jay Leno, quite logically riding a Harley.
Did they start a third game? I only saw the conclusion of the carryover game and the game with the lady whose husband was in Fallujah.

They didn't. After that lady took her deal, they did another commercial. They came back with Howie giving info on how they got the satellite from Iraq and said goodbye. There were six or seven models holding cases as if a game were in progress, but the contestant and her family were still on stage.
-
Interesting... on the west coast, we got the start of a new game in the full two-hour episode. All I can remember is that the contestant was a man and that I think he had gotten to the third bank offer when time was up.
To me, at about 90 minutes in to the two-hour episode, watching started to feel like a chore. I think they need to keep these at an hour maximum.

So on Wednesday's show, will East Coast viewers join that particular game in progress, or will it be seen in its entirety (meaning West Coasters will see that part again)?

Since it's late enough now that another contestant has been called, the answer is that our Hawaiian friend wis JIPped. :)

Which is why Joe Capitano does that recap at the top of the show, among other things, including the need to pad it out (which despite Howie's "watch this," is I presume added in post).
What got cut last Monday was the tease, the check presentations (robbing Eastern/Central viewers the opportunity of hearing that woman say Howie's full name a million times again) and the last contestant. You knew that Regis and Leno weren't getting cut.

I'm sorry if I sound like an idiot. But I never see any contestants receive any checks at the end of their games. Is this something some stations don't air?

I've never seen it on WCAU in Phila. or WMGM in Atlantic City, the two local stations here that carry DOND. I suspect presenting checks was done to pad the proposed two hour DOND that last week got streamlined for Bush's pep talk, not that there's anything wrong with that.

This isn't like WWTBAM (and even those "checks" are mocks, at least I *think* they are). If I understand Mark correctly (and it's possible I don't), they were to pad last Monday's ep with tapes of contestants receiving their checks (I would assume at home, after they've done all the necessary checking for compliance and whatnot). Those all got snipped for Dubya.

Looking at the one that's framed and hanging above my television, yes, I'd say it's a mock. ;)

I only saw one; it was a previous contestant being surprised at her home by Howie with a fake check. And it lasted about three times as long as it should have.

Isn't that par for the course with "DOND?"
Yeah, that was the plan. I guess they were also going to show Howie visiting Lucky Case winners (some of them have already been seen in the segments hawking that game saying "I won $10,000!")
Last Monday, the winner shots were replaced with the models inviting us to text their number. And I thought this was a family show. :)

I generally "trim" and episode of DOND down to about 10 minutes, thanks to tivo.
