Is tomorrow's edition of PIR on the Gameshow Marathon going to be the first to NOT carry the Mark Goodson logo?
-
No. When it was Goodson-Todman, the logo (which I had first seen on Password home games of the '60s) did not appear. It was only after it became just MGP that they started to use a logo on the shows themselves.
I don't think the MGP logo appears on the various non-US versions either.
-
Perhaps I phrased my question incorrectly. Is tomorrow night's GS Marathon PIR the first Price not identified as a Mark Goodson Production?

Not that I see what possible difference it could make, but I guess I'm wondering what makes you absolutely, positively sure that tomorrow's TPIR won't be identified as a Mark Goodson Production in some way.

I'd be more interested to know if/how PYL & LMAD are identified.

"PYL" doesn't matter--Fremantle owns the show.
I would assume the credits will contain a "licensed by Monty Hall Enterprises" credit or some such.
-
In response to Matt's question, I am not sure of anything. Price is the last program regularly itentified as a Goodson production, if in name only. The Goodson logo was only flashed on the screen during MG '98 and is no longer used on Feud. I always thought Fremantle would retire the credit, eventually. Therefore, I am inquiring if the version of Price airing as part of the GSM would or would not carry the Goodson credit.
-
Is this marathon to be as authentic as possible with TPiR beeing on air every day on a network to boot I think it will carry the logo.
The other Goodson shows I dont know.

Well, that's a little different, I guess. So the new question is: Why would you think we would know that before it airs?

Why would it? GSM isn't a Goodson production (and TPiR is being played as part of a series of games, if I understand the concept correctly, so the show itself probably wouldn't carry the credit).
My own speculation--YMMV.

I was wondering more if they would keep the "Carruthers Company Presentation" at the end for authenticity, even though it's a Fremantle show.

I just happy that the proudcers are giving us reasonable repoductions of the sights and sounds. I think most of the members don't give two whits if the show has the original production company logo run during credits.

Unfortunately, no.

With that kind of thinking you guys would go nuts at the ammount of times PiR and other gameshows changed production companies here in the UK. Games have even had to change thier names due to it.

For what it's worth, the Goodson credit is still used on The Price Is Right because the staff requested and received permission to continue using it for the sake of tradition.
That said, I have no idea what the answer to your question is. Truth be told, it hadn't even entered my mind until you brought it up.

On GSM, will Rich Fields say, "This is Rich Fields speaking for 'The Price is Right'. A Mark Goodson...television production"? And will we see the Goodson shield?
Watch at the end of tonight's show! Hehe! (Wow...it's today! :))

They shall all be identified as A Don Howard Entertainment Viewing Spectacular.
I wonder this. Will we be told that "this program was recorded" or "edited for
broadcast"? Will we be told before the show that it's being "presented in color"?
Will we be informed what's "next over most of these CBS stations"?
We darned well better be they give a tinker's damn about tradition and accuracy.

All I will say is that a major Chicago daily newspaper (and some other papers, no doubt) printed a big fat spoiler photo today showing who's going to be in the Showcase, along with their bids and the big prizes in the Showcases. I'm keeping my mouth shut. Hoping the rest of you who might've seen it will.

I'm one of the lucky ones, then. No photos or mentions of GSM in my paper, other than the TV schedule section.

Could be worse -- Rich would mention that one of the celebrities was declared ineligible and the at-home contestant won't get its prizes and the charity won't get its money.

Comments about the aired show have been moved to the existing Show Summaries thread, not because anybody complained or anything, just for consistancy's sake.
-
And the ratings are in....... 5.5/10, 2nd in the hour behind Dateline, but had more viewers. An OK start, but nothing special.
