Title: Wheel of Justice
Post by: dzinkin on June 17, 2006, 07:02:36 PM
WKRC-TV in Cincinnati now has a news segment called "Wheel of Justice" that adds a game show element to fighting crime.  An excerpt from a USA Today article on the "game":

Quote
"It's CrimeStoppers, game-show style," said Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Cpl. Nick Schibi, who spun the wheel recently with partner Dennis Brogan. They've made four of the arrests themselves.

Mug shots of the fugitives — mostly sex offenders and drug dealers — are placed on the wheel, and a $500 reward is offered for information that leads to the arrest of the person where the wheel clicker stops. Anonymity is offered for tipsters.
The full article is here (http://\"http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2006-06-08-crime-show_x.htm\").

Today's (6/12) edition of Fox News Watch on Fox News Channel (repeats at 2:30 AM ET on Sunday 6/13) has a clip if anyone's interested.  Yeah, I know what most of us think of FNC, and I'm not thrilled with it either -- but FNW is one of the few shows that actually is balanced.  Besides, on this edition you'll get to hear host Eric Burns mistakenly call WKRC "WKRP" and one of the panelists refer to FNC's style as "trailer trash," so it's not all bad. :-)

Wow...that's...lame?

Here in NB, you can collect (up to)  $2,000 for your anonymous tip. We get a reenactment commercial though. No wheel.

(waiting for the inevitable Double Jeopardy joke)

Unfortunately, most of these ne'er-do-wells will be back on the streets after playing Let's Make A Plea Deal.

First post ever....and I think I'm going to regret this...

I can see this happening now:

Judge:  Let's see...the status of your fine...

(phone rings)

Judge:  Hmm...ok...ok...I'll tell him.

(hangs up phone)

Convict:  What was that for?

Judge:  Well, he told me how much to set the fine for.  $2,500.  Deal or no deal?

Meanwhile, they'll hire a Hit Man or two to bump off The Neighbors who ratted them out. Durn Tattletales.
