Title: 'Price Is Right' and 'Feud' on DVD for 2007

And may I say BCI and Navarre have also released the wickedly cool He-Man and She-Ra DVD Box Sets (can't wait for their Ghostbusters Filmation Box Set).

Feud doesn't surprise me.  At all.

TPiR does.  I don't see how this show would really transfer well.  There aren't many eps out there that are *that* spectatular.  All I can think of are...

 - The first five half-hours
 - The trial hour long shows
 - Plinko's Premiere
 - Yolanda's ep
 - Bob's last

...which really isn't all that spectactular.

EDIT: Egg on face for not noticing the double.

No matter (at least IMO) because you're taking this in a different direction. The MG DVD set showed us that you didn't even really need good shows for the DVD. There were some random choices on that set. But for TPIR, if they went out of their way to not only include milestones like those you listed, but shows that were fun overall, they'd have a pretty good set. Y'know, days when all 6 games are won, the contestants are funny, the wheel goes on a hot streak, there are running gags with people stuck in the row, et al. Frankly, a lot of us would buy up a TPIR set with just 20 random shows from the 70s on 'em.

Darn, I went back three pages and didn't see that.  Oh well, I guess today's official announcement is what's news.  Yeah, I know, face smothered in it! :(

As much as I loathe Barker today, I would totally buy a set of vintage shows.

Don't quite loathe him, but would definitely consider buying a set.

- The first five half-hours
This grabbed my attention. I re-read the story to see if it was mentioned, and I'm not seeing it unless I skipped it, so I'm curious...Would Bob's request about fur coat episodes be honored for the DVD set?

EDIT: Yes, I know it came from a hypothetical list. It still made me curious.

Whoa whoa whoa...tpirfan28 was just suggesting possible episodes. I see his fur ban continuing over to DVD, personally. It'd be nice if they just included a disclaimer or something so the first episode could finally be seen by the general public, though.

Well see...that's the problem with TPiR.  You gotta be more selective than with MG, because with MG there was always some sort of antic that would make you laugh, whether it was the question writing, panel antics, etc.  Price doesn't have that on a day in-day out basis.  True, over the course of 6600+ episodes, there are probably 1500+ milestone/memorable eps, but you gotta hunt for them.

Now the list I made...
- The first five half-hours
 - The trial hour long shows

 - Yolanda's ep
 - Bob's last
was thrown together at a whim, and with what episodes would be good for a compliation like this.  True, Barker's fur ban could knock out the first five, the trials, Plinko's premiere, and Yolanda's ep, but Barker could do some sort of PSA about them.

What would be better would be a decade-by-decade sets of shows...one for the 70's, 80's, 90's, 2000's, and possibly one for the specials (I know...many wouldn't buy the 90's and 2000's sets on this form).  Then they could conciveably knock out more episodes...

What about the set including a couple of old Cullen-hosted TPIRs?  They were thoughtful enough to include the 1962 premiere of Match Game on that show's DVD collection.

TPIR on DVD?  Now this I would most certainly get.  Two things bug me.  The first is that aformentioned fur ban.  If they want to put some 70's episodes on there, they're gonna have to figure a way around that fur ban.  As for the 2nd thing, I'm concerned that what happened on the MG DVD box set could very well happen here(a faulty disc).  Hopefully, they have the dilligance to keep something like that from popping up here.

As for "Feud", here's what I'm hoping they would include:

-The pilot (with Johnny Olson announcing)
-The "September" episode
-One or two All-Star primetime specials
-Montage of the stupidest answers ever given on Feud
-Episode when Richard would meet his future wife
-Richard's short-lived return from 1994

I'm sure a Ray Combs episode would be thrown in the mix; dunno about Anderson, Karn, or O'Hurley.

Password might be next with a mix of episodes from the CBS and NBC incarnations; we all know about the ABC run.

Jonathan Allen, still waiting for Wheel of Fortune on DVD

But there were also some carefully selected classics, most notably the "school riot" episode.  There was also that howler in which Richard and Fannie imitate Brett and Charles, with Richard wearing Brett's glasses and Fannie wearing Charles' hat and holding his pipe ("Is she quite finished with her play?!").  Star power may also have been a factor on what was chosen, with one including William Shatner (sporting a considerably better hairstyle than he did on the Beat the Clock rerun last week).

Password should be high on their list with the star power from over the years.  I would suggest:

Jimmy Stewart and his family
the first one with Allen and Betty as husband and wife
Jack Benny/password: "miser"
Johnny Carson (and his predecessor, Jack Paar) blurting out the word...twice each
just about any with Carol Burnett, especially that early one with her and Garry Moore; that 1967 challenge match with her and Alan King would be a good one too
the color eps with celebs like Irene Ryan, Frank Sutton, Eddie Albert, etc.
whatever precious few ABC eps exist, perhaps the ones with Martin Milner and the 1975 finale

Password Plus: Dick Martin "French" incident, Wesley Eure getting a bleeped clue for "balls"...I could go on.

Another that should be high on the list: What's My Line? with even more star power.

I don't mind seeing Feud and Price on DVD...

...Just as long as they produce the DVD's without all of the glitches found on the MG DVD's!!!

(I already had problems 2/3rds of the way into Disc 1 and now Disc 2 is starting to freeze up towards the end as well).

A Jerry Lewis episode would be great, because he's terrific at the game and stews over not-so-good contestants. And one with Lucy.

And, while they probably wouldn't put in the effort, it would sure be neat to have the Odd Couple episode. (Which would be great pub if they wanted to put out an Odd Couple box.)

I'd eventually like to see that too.  That particular episode of Odd Couple has a couple of scenes missing from it being a syndication print.  I can remember one of the scenes involved Felix and Oscar visiting the Password set before taping and being intimidated at how well Betty played the game.  I don't think that's been seen since its original ABC airing.

For that matter, I'm quite sure the Let's Make a Deal episode is edited too, but I can't remember exactly what's left out of it.

Both of those episodes occurred in the same season, 1972-73.

Official announcements were made today by BCI, and nothing else was really said that we didn't already know.  It's Feud and TPiR best of sets which will feature some of "each series' greatest and most memorable moments."  No projection as to when they will be released.

Well, if they went to the trouble of announcing them, it'll obviously be this year.   At this point, a release of either through the end of March is out of the question.  Given the attention that Bob's retirement commands, and given that they're strong months for releases anyway, I could definitely see the Price DVD in either May or June.  Feud's a shot in the dark.

"greatest and most memorable moments"...does that mean clips, and not full episodes?  I know it is early still so I don't guess anyone officially knows, but I hope it isn't just clips from the 2 series.

As a matter of fact (http://\"http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=6804\"), they are putting one out (season one) and including the Password episode on a bonus disc featuring the favorite episodes of Tony Randall and Jack Klugman.
