It appears that Tony Barber (former host of Sale of the Century) will be returning to the hosting role in a few weeks time, along with one of his former hostesses Alyce Platt.
Barber bouncing back on our screens ("Herald-Sun", Melbourne, 25 Feb 2007) (http://\"http://www.news.com.au/sundayheraldsun/story/0,21985,21281773-5006022,00.html\")
Could be REALLY interesting - considering Ed and Lavinia will be taking on the contestant role!

I wonder who the third player will be. Glenn Ridge maybe?
I would love to see this.

Seconded. Hopefully this ends up on a certain Aussie torrent site, and then I can send Joe a copy of it.

Or like me, get it via the old fashioned way, DVD (can we still call it tape trading since DVD is taking over) game show trading. Can't wait til you are back on for trading Chris.
Anyway, how old are Tony & Alyce are now? They must be getting on a bit ;)

Definately screams for a Pat/Vanna vs Chuck/Susan battle on Wheel.
-
I guess this is an early April Fool's Joke for Sale fans.

No no, it would be a Pat vs. Vanna battle, but Chuck hosts.
/April 1, 2008 anyone?

Don't forget, Alex Trebek will host Wheel again on April 1, 2013.

Anyone know why he hosted Wheel back around 1980 or so for a week worth of shows? Was Chuck a contestant or was he unavailable? Theres an audio clip of one of the Trebek openings from Friday of that week available somewhere, but i forget where i found it to. It was on a Jack Clark tribute site or something.

From what I remember reading, Chuck was sick.

I would love to see this. I have the ep. of Tony from MikeK's site...he did a pretty good job.
And the WoF thing....Chuck hosts, Susan turns letters, and let it be Pat v. Vanna v. Alex. That would be a great April Fools joke. And if they do that (or you're an exec reading this....) the need to bring back the Big Wheels theme for that show. Cough up some cash and give Alan Thicke some credit.
Too bad Art Fleming isn't with us anymore...a J! with Art hosting, and Alex playing would have been, IMO, nice.

No need to cough up any money to Thicke, other than a standard royalty payment. They own "Big Wheels."

From what I remember reading, Chuck was sick.
It was also right around the time of his divorce from JoAnn Pflug, so I'm guessing that had something to do w/it.

The show aired tonight and it was an absolute beauty! Both Tony Barber and Alyce "Sparky" Platt did a great job in their prospective roles - and both Ed Phillips and Lavinia Nixon did equally well behind the buzzer (they were a combined team representing "Temptation" in the "Battle of the Network Shows" Challenge - their opposition was a team from the lifestyle program "What's Good For You". Whilst I won't give away the result - the show was a cliffhanger right to the end. To top things off - Pete Smith (announcer on "Sale" for nearly the entire 21 year run) made a cameo appearance behind the mike. A great reunion show which will be remembered for some time!
I will endeavour to get some clips up very soon.

Just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for posting this. Temptation is a fantastic update to $OTC, and it's a truly addictive joy to watch. I think it says something that my two favorite game shows currently in production - "Temptation" and "Poker Face" - can't be seen in America outside of what can be viewed on YouTube. I'm going to remain the optimist, though, and hope that some network comes to their senses after ABC rejected "Poker Face," and that "Temptation" stays true to what's being done in Australia when it hits our shores this fall.
BTW, any updates on clearances for the U.S. "Temptation"?
