Let's say you were allowed to go back in time, and save one game show series that is thought to be destroyed. What would you pick?
(My personal selection would be Celebrity Sweepstakes).
-
Concentration (1958-73).

"PDQ."
-
Since Eric's already got Concentration, I'll probably grab Art Fleming's Jeopardy.
-
ABC Password
-
Mine would be Gambit (both versions).
-
Woolery's Wheel . No matter how many episodes surface, I can't seem to get enough of it.
--Jamie
-
The original You Don't Say!
-
My pick would be "Winning Streak". Because even as complicated as the show was, it still would have been neat to see a few more episodes.

Everyone's thrown out good choices, but I'm surprised "High Rollers" hasn't been mentioned.
-
Since High Rollers is now saved by Chief-O, the original run of Jackpot!
-
"The Big Showdown" was the program that was the catalyst for my affection for the game show genre, so I would choose that.
-
The Who, What Or Where Game.
-
The Who, What Or Where Game.
Dang! You beat me on that one, so I'll take another Art show, Say When!
-
I'll see your Concentration (58-73) and raise you Match Game (NBC version).
-
I've always wanted to see Baffle...
-
Since almost all of the other choices have been taken, I'll call for ABC PASSWORD.
-
Here's a vote for Call My Bluff....
-
Sale of the Century- Kelly/Garagiola
-
I'll go with a Cullen classic--"Eye Guess"
-
Trebek's host/Thicke's music "The Wizard of Odds"
Charles
-
If I don't jump in here, all that's gonna be left is Ruckus.
/That's all. :)
-
Darn, all the good answers have been taken! So I guess I'll just settle for Benirschke WOF! ;-)

Joe, I'm pretty sure you could get Benirschke WOF sent to your HOUSE. :)
-
Why hasn't anyone said Split Second yet?
-
"Break the Bank," a la Tom Kennedy.

Actually, I prefer that choice. In my collecting, I find that I'm not all that interested in getting dozens and dozens of non-celeb shows (unless they're Cullen, of course). The ones with celebrities have more appeal to me, and the ABC Password had some pretty big stars in its run. (I'd also specifically love to own a complete set of Password All-Stars, for much the same reason.)
-
Why not........... Second Chance.
Tyshaun
-
The $10,000 Pyramid.
-
I was a little scared that no one had mentioned $10K Pyramid yet.
(Me, I'll take the first 2.5 years of $20K Pyramid.)
-
1966-70 NBC daytime episodes of The Hollywood Squares. I would especially like to see the second week, which was Paul Lynde's first appearance on the show. , and would love to see more of Gypsy Rose Lee.
Runner up would be a tossup between the ABC Password and NBC Match Game. Sure wish someone would've saved the last couple of years of the Daly What's My Line? on color tape, too.
-
Cullen-era "Price is Right". Not much of a game, but still...it's Bill Cullen.
-
Wow, you really haven't left me with much. It's a toss-up between two short-lived Cullen shows. I take Blankety Blanks and hope someone else will save Pass the Buck.

Or not.
-
Since the quality has been picked through fairly thoroughly, I'll go for the fun factor:
The Magnificent Marble Machine
-
NBC's It Takes Two hosted by Vin Scully.
-
Jack Narz' Concentration
-
Stumpers!
-

"Break the Bank," a la Tom Kennedy.

Still intact. Owned by, and in the past, aired on, GSN.
-
My choice, and I'm surprised no one has said this:
Showoffs.

Glad you liked it, but for some reason I didn't see that BFG called it before I did. So he gets full credit.
So, what to pick, what to pick?
Well, according to David Schwartz, only half of GONG still exists, although I have my doubts whether he's completely correct about that. But if he is, I'll call for that.
And has it been established that BATTLESTARS is intact? If not, that's my second choice.
-
My choice would be Celebrity Sweepstakes, but since it's been mentioned, I'll second it! :)
"Break the Bank," a la Tom Kennedy.

Yes, but only 33 of the series 100 episodes were ever run. I'm still a bit perturbed that they never gave this a complete run; and it seems unlikely now that it will ever be on the schedule again. I can understand them not wanting to run the entirety of something like All About the Opposite Sex, but Break the Bank was always thought to be a good quality show, that I don't think ever got the treatment it deserved - either on ABC or GSN.
And has it been established that BATTLESTARS is intact? If not, that's my second choice.
I'd go for Battlestars too - IMHO another under-rated gem. Since both runs occurred in the '80s, it's assumed this still exists; but we have no proof either way.
-
Since Woolery WOF has been taken by Mr. Coyne and the two Concentrations taken by Eric and Matt, I'm left with one choice:
Tom Kennedy Name That Tune
At least, I think a lot of those episodes were destroyed, IIRC. I'm positive many here would know for sure...

I think the conventional wisdom is that Tom's daytime shows are probably gone, but that the syndicated episodes are merely unavailable, locked up in a syndicator's closet gathering dust.
-
I would like to see early episodes of Definition.
-

Now, Matt, don't go "misplacing" Pass the Buck. . .
(That one is intact, though, right?)
-
Seven Keys.
-
Well, this thread took an interesting turn I hadn't intended when I posed the initial question. I never meant for everyone to choose a different show, if 10 of y'all love Split Second then so be it.
However, now it is fun to see what people pick.
-
You Don't Say NBC 1963-69..I know there are a few episodes in the hands of traders and such but I'm not sure there are many beyond that
-
Barker "T or C." To see Barker when he was Barker, not the WGMC.
-
Geez... naturally, you guys got all the great ones. The best ideas I've seen so far (for me) are 10K Pyramid, Second Chance, Big Showdown, Woolery Wheel, High Rollers and Gambit. But they're all great.
For what's been voted already, I would second Second Chance, just because. But as for new stuff, I haven't seen anyone vote for Cullen's $25,000 Pyramid yet. So how 'bout it?

I would add Split Second to my own also-ran list behind what I already mentioned. My candidate for most underrated game show of all time.

Sadly, yes.
The only redeeming thing about the show in my mind is that I was able to give the first champion a copy of her appearance. She certainly seemed happy about it.
-
Either the complete "$64,000 Question" or "Twenty One" run from the 50's.
-
I'll take "The Money Maze".
-
"Stop The Music" and the Bert Parks version of "Break the Bank", out of historical interest.
-

Do we know that that's actually gone, or is it merely unavailable, buried somewhere in the bowels of Viacom?
