The press release is here (http://\"http://www.gsn.com/corporate/press.php?release_id=276\").

"To Tell the Truth" on the Web (http://\"http://www.nmi.uga.edu/people/marshall/tttt\")
edit: Sorry, y'all. Make that a Monday morning 3am two-fer.
-
I'm just happy their doing this tribute. Both episodes look good.
-
Ugh, kind of lazy, but oh well, better than nothing.
-
Guests were a New York City police detective who uses disguises and an executive who studies the impact of viewing television in addition to Carlisle’s own son in disguise.
That's a really, really bad sentence.
I still marvel at the fact that GSN makes a big put-out-a-press-release deal about running 'tributes' at three o'clock in the morning, but I've resigned myself to the phrase, "It's better than nothing."

Kind of lazy? Would you prefer no tribute?
They're airing Kitty's first appearance and, from what I can tell, the Richard Buggy episode, one of the best episodes from the 70s run. I've had GSN for almost 8 years and I've never seen the Buggy episode. What's not to like?

I don't think it's that so much as the fact that, with an almost immeasurable amount of extra effort, they could do something much much better. The frustration is in watching them almost go out of their way to expend as little effort as possible.
I mean, 'cuz really, your argument can be extrapolated to the entire network. Is having GSN better than not having GSN? Of course. Does that mean I should be satisfied when they excrete out yet another Chain Reaction and StarFace? Hells no.

Uhh..., that's why I said "oh well, better than nothing."...

Sure, I wish they'd run more, but if they're only showing two, these are probably the best two to show. Now I'm off to set my VCR.

While I definitely do not gripe about the selection of episodes, it would have been more interesting if they would have shown an episode from each decade she was on. However, saying that, it doesn't surprise me that they're only showing two episodes at 3AM.
When was the last tribute that wasn't buried at 3AM? Nipsey Russell? Peter Tomarken?

Kitty was up there in her years, and though she was in excellent health until recently, GSN had a lot of time to prepare a better tribute than this. She should've had a week-long tribute, even if at 3AM. But again, this is GSN we're talking about.
I agree with Klauss that despite only a 60-minute tribute to someone whose career spanned 6 decades of game shows, they are choosing 2 good episodes, as the Richard Buggy episode was a riot.

MUCH better GSN. Little disappointed there's no '80s TTTT...but it's better than that really tiny tribute initially planned.
And the new lineup:
SUNDAY (3:00AM): Carlisle's first TTTT appearance, 1957.
MONDAY (2:00PM): "Richard Buggy" ep.
TUESDAY (2:00PM): The Dog Food ep.
WEDNESDAY (2:00PM): First '90s TTTT
THURSDAY (2:00PM): Seemingly a random ep...
FRIDAY (2:00PM): Final '90s TTTT

[/quote]OK, this question: is the 2nd overnight episode still going to be the "Richard Buggy" ep, as well as the Monday afternoon (late morning in some Pacific markets) ep?

According to the press release, yes.

I would love to see more TTTT from the mid-70s era, 1973-77 or so. I don't think GSN ever got much past 1971 on the daily runs back at the end of the dark period...certainly would be a welcome addition in the weekday or weekend afternoons, wouldn't it?
I didn't realize that they used the same light blue/beige set for that many years!

Belated thanks GSN for showing the last 'Truth' made by MGP last Friday. Seeing in hindsight Mr. Goodson on the stage at the end drove home how an era had come to end. I was also pleasantly surprised the see how this was the one with Paul Alter.
