Title: 2007-08 shows in HD?
Post by: MikeK on July 01, 2007, 12:33:30 PM
Starting a new thread from something posted in the Feud logo thread...
It looks great!!  Can't wait to see it on my bigscreen this fall!!!
Since the big screen was mentioned, does anybody know if Feud or any other game shows besides Wheel and J! will be shot in HD this season?

I keep up with a few HDTV forums; I've seen no shows becoming HD yet.  If any other game shows did go HD we'd see a lot of press releases.

The only bit of news is that the Pathfire HD distribution system launch (http://\"http://avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=10363378&&#post10363378\").

Wasn't Merv's show supposed to be in HD?

And I'm wondering, are any modifications being made to Price's set for HD?...esp. since now, we don't have to worry about seeing Barker being in hi-def. :-)

I wonder if this will make it easier for them to distribute content to order; i.e. 720p to stations who need 720p and 1080i to stations that need 1080i. That limitation is the reason Jeopardy and Wheel are still broadcast in SD in Seattle.

Pathfire, as I understand it, was meant to alleviate just that.

On the downside, those with the Big Ugly Dishes in their backyards won't have access once everything switches over -- because another key component of Pathfire is encryption.  It won't stop the people who work at TV stations from getting early access, of course.

Right, but it says that WOF and J! are *already on* Pathfire, and yet I still see J! in SD here. So I'm wondering if this is the version where it's actually going to work.

If those boys and girls in the ivory towers don't get cracking on naming a new emcee, HD may be obsolete by the time TPiR starts recording new episodes.

I haven't had access for over a year now.  All four syndicated shows used to be pretty easy to capture on "wild feeds" to local stations.  As of last Sept's season premieres, none of them were available anymore.

I guess the days of seeing this stuff ahead of times (sitcom wild feeds included) are coming to a quick end :(
