Why have all the versions of FF had the pass or play option except Combs'? It just doesn't make sense to me.

I guess it was just something Goodson wanted. He eliminated \"pass/play\" on Super Password also.

I have read, I believe from Curt Alliume, that since 98% of the time, the teams chose to Play; they dropped this option.

Interesting. Because there have been quite a few passes on the 2002/03 season on the Karn version.

I think with the triple round, one strike, family with the most points win game, the pass/play option is vital. But with the 300 points wins, I think its less needed.

Be that as it might, there have been a fair number of passed questions already in the first week of the 03-04 season. One reason for it (and one I compliment the producers on) is that the occasional question has a vague enough subject matter to make passing a pretty good idea.

Still, passing doesn't make a whole lot of sense because you still need to come up with a correct answer to steal the money, and by then most of the popular answers probably would be gone. I think it's better to play the question (even with a vague subject) and let the other team struggle to come up with a steal.

If it's the kind of question I'm thinking of, you can't really count on \"popular answers\". I can't think of a concrete example, but the 9- and 10-answer questions on Dawson Feud were usually of that type.

\"Name a flavor of Kool-Aid\" comes immediately to mind.
