Title: Wink Martindale caught robbers?

My dad SWEARS he heard something about Wink Martindale thwarting a bank robbery or catching a criminal or something along those lines.

Something he would be known for.

And I SWEAR he's wrong.

Can someone shed some light on this?

A check of NewspaperArchive.com using Wink Martindale robbery brought up nothing.  That is not definite proof that it did not happen, but it leans towards the unlikely.

Over the 20 years that I've known Wink... lots of conversations and e-mails... I've never heard anything along those lines.

No mention of it in his autobio (Winking @ Life), either, so I'm leaning towards the negative position myself.
