Has any one downloaded the bagpipe cover version of Swingin Safari by The Royal Ulster Constabulary Pipe Band from Itunes?
-
So *that's* what my music collection's been missing: bagpipes!

Someone get Craig Ferguson to host, and Drew to sit on the panel for the debut show, and we've got a sale.
\But the game will get old after a while when everybody keeps answering 'haggis'
-
What...the....hell....is....that....
Definitely an interesting remake......
/if Drew's on it, don't let it be for a Million, or ye be givin' a million on ye's first show

I liked the song!
Now can the Royal Ulster Constabulary Pipe Band follow that up with some more game show themes like:
The 2nd Password theme from the 60s,
$10,000 Pyramid
Break The Bank (the 70's version)
Treasure Hunt (likewise)
Jackpot (ditto)
Let's Make a Deal (70s as well)
Some would sound good in bagpipe renditions! :)

Well, we do have this. (http://\"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QxxcH9PSS8\")
And between the two, the start of the greatest concept album ever.
Which reminds: Long time ago, I compiled a collection I called "There Were Words to That?" which featured game show themes being sung. Two of my favorites were Chuck Barris oddities: Summertime Guy, which was a pop single he wrote and then later adapted into the theme from The Newlywed Game, and Lovee's Come Back, which was used as theme music for The Gong Show.

No Emperor's Club joke here, but on iTunes we can find the second track of our game show concept album:
Oslo Strykekvartett covers "Chump Change" by Quincy Jones.

Best I managed to find so far for us non-iPod users was this Norwegian site (http://\"http://www.musiconline.no/shop/displayAlbum.asp?id=30609\"), but it at least has samples. I can't say I'm thrilled by the exchange rate at the moment (1 Krone = 19 cents, according to google).
This page (http://\"http://www.fabra.no/1_0_fabra.html\") also has sound samples for Chump Change, once you scroll halfway down. But this one's the tail-end of the song.
I'll keep looking.
/Listening to those samples, all I could think was "This is Jonathan Olsen speaking for Presently You Can Visualize the Answers, with your host Sir James Purceful Blythe Narsington III. This program has been a Marcus Fineprogeny--William Todfellow, Esq. production. Quite."
-
there is The Cadets drum & bugle corps of Allentown PA that had Chump Change in its 1979 repertoire at the DCI -- I spent an entire afternoon trying to track down a copy.. I'm sure someone has it.. a D&BC cover would be awesome to hear -- it's almost as if the song was meant for that..
-
...for 45 bucks you can have the marching band sheet music arrangement for Chump Change :D

"By Quincy Jones, Bill Cosby. Arranged by John Tatgenhorst. Band Music Press Marching Band. Published by Band Music Press. (190168)
From the pen of the two greatest writers and entertainers in the world, we're proud to present a great rocker for the field or in the stands. A real crowd pleaser."
I wonder what role Bill Cosby actually had in writing that song..

Oh, I'm an iPod user, I simply refuse to give the iTunes Store money for music they want to control and restrict my usage of. AmazonMP3's stuff is completely DRM-free, the same price as the iTunes Store (most of the time) and no less convenient, considering there is a plug-in that will even handle importing the download into your iTunes library.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I was approaching that from the point of "iTunes being the only other place that has this track." I should have worded that differently.

That's cool. I just think it's important for people to know that just because they have an iPod, that they're not locked in to the ITS, there are other very good and very convenient alternatives available.

Guys, Ulster is in Ireland.

Actually Ulster is in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland (as part of the United Kingdom). The only reason opimus' statement raised a red flag because I remember Ulster Television holds the ITV franchise to broadcast to Northern Ireland (and yes I did more research to make sure what I said is correct).
Back on topic, those two instrumentals have made onto my MP3 player. One right next to The Offspring.

Giving a bump to inform Chump Change connoisseurs that The Oslo String Quartet website (http://\"http://www.mfn.musiconline.no/shop/displayAlbum.asp?id=30609\") offers this track also for about $1.86.

Or if you ask very kindly, some of us have it as an MP3.
And even if you ask kindly, you probably won't get it until Sunday, as I'll be busy most of tomorrow. It's still a better bargain than 99 cents or $1.86.
